Earth-3.
Jay Garrick, the speedster of the Golden Age, sat in his study, surrounded by trophies and memories. His cane rested beside him.
A hum echoed. A rift opened.
Barry appeared, exhausted.
— Jay… we need you.
Jay slowly stood.
— Savitar?
Barry nodded.
— But… crueler. More calculated. He defeated Wally, Jesse, Godspeed. And stole their speed.
Jay picked up his helmet.
— Take me to him.
---
In the open fields of Midway, Lucas waited. Jay appeared beside Barry.
— So, you're the old guardian? — Lucas mocked.
Jay didn't reply. He simply ran. As fast as he could.
Lucas didn't react. He just watched.
Jay struck him hard, knocking him down for a moment.
— Still just a boy pretending to be a god — Jay said.
Lucas stayed silent. Then charged.
The fight was honorable. Jay used strategy, experience, and time. Lucas used brute force, cruelty, and stolen power.
In the end, Jay fell, struggling to breathe.
— You have power, kid. But you have no soul.
— I don't need a soul. Just speed.
Lucas didn't steal Jay's speed.
— You're already dying. I'll leave you with your shame.
And he vanished.
Jay collapsed into Barry's arms.
— Stop him, Barry… before all that's left is dust in time.
