Chapter 9 - The Reason Behind the Destruction of the Music Capital, the Pitiful Uta

"[Come to think of it, it's not like Red-Haired Shanks had no reason to abandon Uta.]

[After all, she did accidentally cause that incident.]

[But even so, for Red-Haired Shanks to make a decision for Uta without even asking her, that's not really appropriate either.]

[If it were me, I could have helped her bear that burden when she was still young.]

[And once she grew up, we could have faced it together.]

[That incident would never be the reason for us to be separated.]

[What a joke, as a father, how could I possibly abandon my own daughter?!]

[Wait, why am I treating Uta like she's my daughter?]

[That's not right, if I'm going to project onto her, she should be in the role of my wife!]

[She can sing and dance, she's kind and gentle—aside from not knowing the truth, she's full of great qualities!]

[A woman like that is definitely the perfect candidate to be my wife.]"

"Ugh, who wants to be your wife?"

Uta shouted sweetly, cursing Rosen in her heart for being so shameless.

"But... Shanks abandoned me because I accidentally did something?"

Uta frowned deeply as she read the comments appearing on the diary copy.

She carefully recalled her memories with Shanks, but couldn't think of anything that would cause him to leave her.

"What exactly happened?"

"Why can't this Rosen just be clear about it?"

Uta muttered angrily, pouting as she stared at the diary copy.

"[Let me jot this down briefly, so I won't forget the details about Uta later.]

[When Uta was still a child, she once followed the Red-Haired Pirates to the Music Capital, Elegia.]

[There, her Devil Fruit powers went out of control, and Elegia was destroyed.]

[In order to spare Uta the guilt, Red-Haired Shanks took responsibility for the destruction of Elegia himself.]

[At the same time, recognizing Uta's musical talent, he entrusted her to a musician in Elegia's Hometown to train her.]

[Shanks hoped to give Uta as normal a life as possible this way.]"

"What?! I destroyed Elegia?!"

Uta's eyes widened as she stood up in shock.

In her memory, it was clearly Red-Haired Shanks who destroyed Elegia and looted its treasures.

This completely contradicted what was written in Rosen's diary.

"Uta, how... how did you know you were the one who destroyed Elegia?!"

At that moment, a familiar voice rang out behind her.

Uta turned to look—it was Gordon, the only known survivor of Elegia, and the person who had guided her in music all these years.

"Gordon, you... are you saying I really did destroy Elegia?!"

"Uh? N-No, of course not. You must have misheard, Uta."

"I didn't mishear. You clearly said I destroyed Elegia. Gordon, tell me, do you know something?"

"Uta, I... I don't understand what you're talking about!"

Gordon turned his head, avoiding Uta's eyes.

He had accidentally blurted out the truth earlier when shocked by Uta's words.

But now, seeing her confused state, he dared not say more.

Uta gave Gordon a long, deep look.

Thinking of the contents written in Rosen's diary, she spoke to Gordon:

"Gordon, it was because my Devil Fruit powers went out of control back then, that Elegia was destroyed, right?"

"Then Shanks and the others claimed they did it so I wouldn't feel guilty."

"And they entrusted me to you, so you could train me to become a famous diva, right?"

Gordon instinctively took two steps back.

He never imagined Uta would speak with such clarity and detail.

"You don't have to lie to me anymore, Gordon."

"Just now, I remembered everything."

Uta took a deep breath and pressed her lips together as she looked at Gordon.

But in reality, she hadn't recalled any of it.

She had only been trying to bluff and catch Gordon off guard.

And from his reaction, she got her answer.

At this moment, Uta completely believed that Rosen was a transmigrator, someone who knew both the past and future.

"Gordon, could you tell me everything that happened that night in detail?"

Uta's eyes welled with tears, her expression pitiful yet filled with determination as she asked Gordon.

Gordon frowned.

He didn't want to talk about it, but seeing the determination in Uta's eyes and considering that she had already remembered so much…

He had no choice but to briefly tell her about the night her Sing-Sing Fruit powers went out of control.
