Chapter 21 - The revenge of the detective

[Scene: Lucas gets the lead]

Friend:

"Lucas. That guy... he announced the event under the name Eduardo, but it's him. It's Martin. I'm sure of it."

Lucas (gritting his teeth):

"So he's here… in Mexico… putting on a show?"

[Scene Shift: Lucas in his car, eyes focused, speeding toward the building.]

Lucas (to himself):

"This ends tonight."

[Scene: Martin's place – elegant, quiet, too peaceful.]

[Lucas kicks open the door. Martin turns casually from a desk, surprised but calm.]

Martin:

"Well, if it isn't—"

Lucas (yells):

"Shut the hell up!"

[Lucas sprints and punches Martin in the face — hard. Martin stumbles, hitting the wall. Blood from his nose.]

Lucas (rage-fueled):

"That's for my sister!"

[He punches him again. Martin's teeth crack — one flies out. Martin grins through blood.]

Martin:

"Guess you really hate me..."

[Lucas kicks Martin straight in the chest, sending him over a table. Martin coughs hard, blood dripping down his lips.]

Lucas (panting, furious):

"And this... is for Stephen!"

[Lucas grabs Martin by the collar, slams him against the wall. Martin gasps. Lucas pulls back for another punch, but Martin ducks, counter-punches into Lucas's ribs. Lucas staggers, then kicks Martin's leg. Martin drops to a knee.]

Martin (smiling with blood):

"Are you finally gonna kill me, detective?"

Lucas (cold):

"Tonight is your end, Martin."

[Suddenly — CLANG! A crowbar smashes the back of Lucas's head. He collapses to the ground, stunned, blood pouring from his skull.]

Martin (turns slowly):

"Ah... Dr. Fredrick. Still alive?"

Dr. Fredrick (smirking):

"Good to see you still standing, Martin."

Lucas (barely conscious):

"You... bastard..."

Martin kneels beside Lucas.

Martin (whispers):

"You should've stayed dead after what I did to your sister. But you just had to keep chasing ghosts."

[Martin stands up. Lucas groans in pain, crawling slightly.]

Martin:

"You're close now, Lucas. But not enough. You're fighting something beyond men. You're facing the king of monsters."

[He kicks Lucas in the stomach. Lucas screams in pain.]

Martin (calm, smiling):

"Next time, it'll be your death."

[Martin vanishes into the shadows. Fredrick follows. Silence.]

---

[Two hours later — abandoned building. James arrives, frantic.]

James:

"Lucas!? Where are you!?"

Lucas (barely lifting his head):

"Over... here... James..."

James runs to him, kneels.

James:

"God, you're bleeding bad. What the hell happened!?"

Lucas (breathing weak):

"He was here. Martin. It really was him. And that doctor's alive too."

James (eyes cold):

"Then I swear… next time, we finish i

[Scene: Martin's house – Night. Dim lights. Blood on his lips. He sits alone, hunched over his violin. The silence is cold.]

Martin (softly to himself, smirking through blood):

"Heh… guess it's not looking good for me now. I'm losing my kingdom…"

[He picks up the violin. Fingers trembling slightly, he begins to play — a slow, melancholic tune. No words. Just music. Broken and elegant.]

---

[Scene Shift: James and Lucas, sitting in the police car. Rain tapping the windows.]

Lucas (staring out into the night):

"That guy… he's the most evil thing I've ever stood against."

James (quiet):

"I know."

Lucas (clenched fists):

"You don't get it. He doesn't want to just kill us. He wants us to feel what he feels — the pain, the emptiness… the madness."

James (nods slowly):

"He wants us to suffer."

Lucas (bitterly):

"He wants us to rot from the inside. Slowly. Piece by piece."

James:

"A death you can feel before it even happens."

Lucas:

"He's the definition of a monster… but he wears skin like us. That's the part that makes him terrifying."

James (softly):

"Then we take off that skin. Strip it down. Until the monster has nowhere left to hide."

[Scene: Police Station – Late Night. Papers scattered, crime scene photos on the board. Sofia, James, and Lucas reviewing the new case.]

Lucas (pointing at the board):

"This… this isn't just another psycho. The way the bodies are crushed, torn — it's not human."

James (lighting a cigarette):

"Looks like a gorilla attack. But we know damn well it's not."

Sofia (quietly):

"Victims didn't just die. They were… dismantled."

Lucas:

"We got ourselves a new one. Something different. No message. No pattern. Just pure violence."

James:

"Animal strength. Human hate. That's what makes it terrifying."

Lucas (nods):

"He's not just killing. He's hunting. Like it's personal."

Sofia:

"The claw marks, the shattered ribs — no weapon could do this. It's like he is the weapon."

James:

"We're not dealing with a man. We're dealing with a monster pretending to be one."

Lucas:

"And monsters like this… don't stop until they're dead."

[A tense silence follows. Then the call comes in.]

Dispatch (radio):

"Unit 47 — another body found. North district alley. Looks like the same M.O."

James (stands up, cracking his neck):

"Let's go. Time to meet the beast."
