David's parents invested in Progenitor INC and got David a Beta Test spot in this New World. The Beta Testers have a one month period to set up their stories in this new world..Each and everyone of the beta testers are going to have a very important part to play in this battle for supremacy

This year is the year that is going to redefine gaming as a whole, Progenitor Inc is set to release their new VR Capsules at the end of the month. Progenitor Inc is the First company to revolutionize VR technology and streamline it to what they have shown it to be now.

During all of the live trailers and demos they talk about how the world is controlled by its very own A.I. acting as the {GOD} of this new world. Every sensation, whether it be pain or pleasure will be felt with full vividness as if you are still in (The Real World) The Creators brag that each individual NPC is going to be capable of its own self thought and responses. They are warning players now to give up the concept of "Playing a Game" and truly dive into this new world with an open mind.

POV David

Waking, I rubbed the crust from my eyes, wincing at the dull ache. Another all-nighter spent on the phone with Ethan, dissecting every rumour and leaked crumb about Progenitor Inc.'s upcoming release. Forums were a chaotic mess of speculation, impossible to tell real news from fake hype.

Ethan was practically vibrating with jealousy. My parents' investment hadn't just secured me a beta test spot; it was a golden ticket to what felt like another world. He'd made me promise to call him the second I logged out, desperate for every detail the creators had kept under wraps.

I rolled out of bed, the familiar hum of my monitor coming to life as I flipped the power switch. "Yes, Good Morning Master David. What can I do for you?" Alfonzo's calm, disembodied voice floated from the ceiling speaker.

"Two eggs, bacon, and some bread, please, Alfonzo," I answered. No sooner had the words left my mouth than he confirmed, "Yessir, Master David. The Chef will prepare your meal immediately."

I logged onto Progenitor Online's portal, tracking my VR capsule shipment. Two PM today – perfect. With virtual school off, I had nothing but time. I pulled up SlipStream, scrolling through live streamers. Khalancy, my current favorite, was ziplining across a digital Grand Canyon when three soft knocks echoed from my doorway.

"Mom?" Confusion creased my brow. "What are you doing bringing my food? Don't you and Dad have business to take care of?"

She continued toward me, balancing my breakfast. "Honey, I'm bringing your food because there are a few things we need to discuss before your VR gets here." Her voice softened, a rare shift from her usual professional cadence. "Your father and I know this is a big responsibility. So many people vied for a Beta Tester position. I know you're still young, and I wish I never had to have this talk with you, but this world is a cruel, cold place, darling. It's painted in shades of grey to hide the stark black and white it's truly made of. Your father and I have tried our hardest to shield you from certain realities, but with you joining this game, you're going to be exposed to far more than ever before."

She set the plate down gently. "We want you to go experience this new world with an open heart and mind, to truly embrace this opportunity because we know how much you wanted to play. However, we also want you to try your absolute best to secure the strongest position you can inside the game. We believe this game is only the beginning of big changes coming soon. Do you think you can do that for us, sweetheart?"

I'd been halfway through my bacon, but when she finished, I gave her my full attention. This wasn't just big for me; it was monumental for everyone. The beta testers were hand-picked by the game's A.I. from a vast pool of investors and sponsors—a huge deal, especially since my social circle wasn't exactly vast. The creators had only hinted that beta testers would massively influence the game's dynamic, with some getting early advantages, but promising eventual balance.

"Yes, Mom, I can handle this!" I said, my voice thick with earnestness. "I can't thank you and Dad enough for this opportunity. I'm going to try my best to become the best at this game. I promise to take my time, listen, and learn all I can." The shift in her face was immediate, her business-like façade melting into the soft, familiar smile I loved.

"Okay, Honey. I just wanted to talk to you before your VR gets here. Alfonzo will be bringing the workers up to install your VR console and capsule. Your father will be busy with a meeting, but expect to hear from him. I love you, honey. Call me if you need me."

Watching her leave, I turned back to SlipStream, searching for content covering Progenitor Online's impending release. Streamers debated whether any beta testers would dare to live-stream their journey through this "New World." My mom's words resonated deeply. I wanted to be the best. The top. I'd never streamed before, but this beta spot was my chance, my best opportunity to gain a following and build something of myself.

After a moment of internal debate, I committed, signing up for a SlipStreamer Account. I filled out the bio and verification, then landed on the username screen. K1NG. Bold, attention-grabbing, perfect for the viewership I craved. For my password, D.foster23 was simple enough. Logging in, the platform prompted me for a profile picture. I walked to my closet, pulling out a white mask, its left eye bisected by a sharp blue lightning bolt, the right side adorned with a manufactured crack. Slipping it on, I looked in the mirror. My icy blue eyes stared back from behind the mask, a striking, enigmatic image.

My profile complete, Alfonzo's voice returned, calm as ever. "Master David, the workers from Progenitor Inc. have arrived to set up your VR equipment. Do not be alarmed when they come into your room. Do you need anything, Sir?" I felt a familiar surge of gratitude for his unwavering service to my family. "No, Alfonzo, I'm good for now. Thank you, though." The speaker crackled, "Very well, Master David. You know how to reach me if needed."

The 'Live' button sat waiting on my screen. I hesitated. Streaming the setup process would only complicate things for me and the workers. Instead, I'd get the instructions, learn how to register the VR. Each capsule was linked to one person, secured against unauthorized access.

Four workers entered, led by Lawrence. He assured me his team comprised Progenitor Inc.'s finest installers. The process, he claimed, would take only three hours, involving the installation of nutritional storage bags and finding the ideal location for the VR. I pointed to my bed; I planned to stream mostly at night, during my sleep hours. Lawrence handed me the VR headset, instructing me to put it on when I was ready for Character Creation. The A.I. controlling the game would then deliver each beta tester's mission.
