Damian Gallagher's expression hardened as he looked between the two sisters. The air in the police station hallway crackled with tension. Lyra met his gaze briefly, her face giving nothing away, before she continued walking past them without a word.
"Ms. Moreau?" Damian called after her, his voice sharp.
Lyra paused but didn't turn around. "Yes?"
"You're the one who saved my sister?"
"I just did what anyone would do in that situation," she replied evenly, then continued toward the exit.
Orla watched her sister leave, panic rising in her chest. The carefully constructed lie was crumbling before her eyes. She needed to salvage this—fast.
"Lyra!" Orla called, forcing brightness into her voice. "What a coincidence seeing you here!"
Lyra didn't acknowledge her. The glass doors swung shut behind her with a soft hiss.
Damian turned to Orla, confusion evident in his eyes. "You told me you pulled my sister from that car."
