하늘과 땅을 잇는 오작교가 열리던 날, 태현이와 소백이는 윷판에서 뽑은 다음 페이지 속으로 쏙 들어가 버렸어요.
On the day the bridge between heaven and earth opened, little Taehyun and Sobaek tumbled right into the next page drawn from their yut board.
사방은 뽀얀 안개로 가득했지요. 그 안개 속에서 하늘빛 저고리를 입은 선녀가 살포시 나타났어요.
All around them was soft, milky fog. And from that mist stepped a fairy dressed in a sky-colored jeogori.
"앗, 여긴 어디죠? 혹시… 아래 세상에서 온 아이들인가요?" 선녀가 놀란 듯 물었어요.
"Oh my, where am I? Are you… children from the world below?" the fairy asked in surprise.
"저는 태현이에요, 이 아이는 소백이구요. 설연록을 찾고 있어요." 태현이가 또랑또랑하게 말했어요.
"I'm Taehyun, and this is Sobaek. We're looking for the Seol-Yeon Book," said Taehyun clearly.
선녀는 조용히 고개를 끄덕였어요. "그래요, 도움이 필요하겠군요. 하지만 오작교는 아무나 건널 수 없답니다."
The fairy nodded quietly. "I see. You'll need help. But this bridge cannot be crossed by just anyone."
그때였어요. 안개가 살짝 걷히자 다리 위에 두 그림자가 비쳤어요. 바로 견우와 직녀였죠.
Just then, as the mist parted a little, two shadows appeared on the bridge. It was none other than Gyeonwoo and Jiknyeo.
두 사람은 서로를 향해 다가가려 했지만, 보이지 않는 실들이 손길을 가로막았어요.
They tried to reach for each other, but invisible threads held them apart.
"사랑은 기다림과 마음을 엮는 일이에요. 실뜨기처럼요." 선녀가 부드럽게 말했어요.
"Love is about weaving hearts with patience. Just like cat's cradle," said the fairy gently.
아이들은 선녀와 함께 실뜨기를 시작했어요. 얽힌 실들이 하나하나 모양을 만들며 다리처럼 변해갔지요.
The children began a cat's cradle with the fairy. The tangled threads slowly shaped into a bridge.
직녀가 조심스레 속삭였어요. "우리 인연을 이어줄 다른 마음이 필요해요."
Jiknyeo whispered softly, "We need another heart to tie our fate."
그 말에 태현이와 소백이는 실을 건넸어요. 그러자 실타래가 하나둘 풀리며 오작교 위의 줄이 사라졌어요.
With that, Taehyun and Sobaek passed their thread forward, and the knots untangled, letting the bridge become whole.
다리가 완성되자, 하늘에서 오색떡국이 담긴 그릇이 천천히 내려왔어요.
As the bridge was completed, a bowl of five-colored rice cake soup gently descended from the sky.
"이건 하늘에서 내려온 회복의 음식이에요. 따뜻한 마음이 담겨 있답니다."
"This is a healing food from the heavens. It carries warm hearts within," said the fairy.
아이들이 떡국을 한입 먹자, 마음이 포근해졌고 설연록의 다음 장이 반짝이며 펼쳐졌어요.
As the children ate the soup, their hearts felt warm and the next page of Seol-Yeon sparkled open.
