Chapter 141 - Bolt Of Lightning

The crowd grew louder, if that was even possible.

This was all so wrong, and not the sport that Equan had grown up idolizing.

People were dying over some academy sport, and at the center of it all Chase and Equan stood before a beast of ice that would not falter.

Chase looked terrible, his body was running rapid with blood rushing down what looked like a walking corpse, yet his flames burner brighter than the Pyrothar that stood above their home back at Phoenix Academy.

"Don't give up..."

He muttered, with a cobalt blade resting in his right hand.

"Equan... You have to tie the game..."

"I can't leave you here to die..."

"I can't die... Not here..."

Equan didn't know what he meant by that, but the strength hidden in his tired voice was almost enough to reassure him.

"But..."

Just as he said it, a spike made of ice shot toward his head, leaving Equan only seconds to dodge the powerful attack.

But alas he did not have enough time, he saw his own life flash before his eyes, and for a moment he regretted not listening to Chase...

Then a body crashed into the spike of ice before it got there, and soared across the plane of snow, ice, and trees and crash right next to Thane of House Frostfang.

"What the hell are you doing! Kill them already fool!"

Thane screamed at the figure that only now appeared to be that of Kael of House Stormrauk...

Then another figure crashed into the snow right next to Equan, this one a lot more controlled... And very very angry.

"Listen to the Stray damnit all!"

Leo screamed with nothing but rage and fury, as his hair was being held up by some unknown source of energy, as it flowed with nothing but what seemed like raw Primis...

The Lion's Primis was strong, much stronger than anything Equan had ever seen before.

Stories were told of Leo's first year at Phoenix Academy, and how he had access to a very rare form of Primis... The kind that is naturally in tune with Axis Energy, and meant only for the user to imbue them together.

"Leo... I need help."

Leo nodded, as Kael was helped up by Thane, leaving Equan as the odd one out.

Looking down at the boy much younger than him, Leo spoke with strangely kind words.

"Jack got the ball back on the western side of the arena, go help him tie this damn game up... We will take care of these two..."

Leo had a powerful look in his bronze eyes, as Chase stood to Equan's right, but this time his flames seemed to cover most of his ragged body, hiding any wounds that he had under the blazing light.

Chase smiled.

"I'll be fine..."

That was all Equan needed, feeling a surge of lightning below him, he shot into the sky like a bolt from the storm clouds above.

'Wait... Did I make those...'

He thought for a moment as he felt air press against his face, as the surge of static seemed to elevate his power even more.

'Ah screw it...'

Feeling the true limit of his abilities, he hovered hundreds of feet above the arene, as the lightning exploded around him, crashing down into the pillars of ice that towered around him.

'I suppose it is just a happy little accident.'

He said with a grim amount of laugher, and summoned the bow that he had refused to summon all year.

It was truly beautiful, especially since he looked like some sort of god, floating in the air with true energy crashing into the world around him.

The mixes of aetheric material and cobalt that made up the arm of the bow, and the string of pure light that rested against his forearm.

Then he yelled with all of his might.

"JACK! THROW ME THE BALL!"

Of course from some unknown part of the western battlefield, a blaze of fire shot from underneath a tree and rocketed toward the boy above the world.

Equan knocked a single arrow, made of an ancient wood, that had a blunt tipped arrow resting at its end.

Shooting himself backward with lightning cackling around his body, he pulled back and steadied himself.

With a deep breath the ball was about to be directly in front of him in only mere moments.

'Not yet...'

'Not yet..'

"Not yet!"

'Now...'

He let loose, and the arrow shot through the sky like a bolt of lightning, reeling with immense electrical energy, as it shot toward the flaming ball.

Once it struck Equan was filled with pure ecstasy, as it carried the ball with the soaring arrow directly into the cavern of the goal, and only seconds later, the air with filled with screams and chants, as the horn blared even louder than the crowd.

With a grin on his face, he muttered quietly to himself.

"Bullseye."

The game was now tied...
