Merita
The ride home from the hospital was a quiet one. My daughter sat beside me in the backseat while my brother husband drove us to the pack house where my husband was waiting to take us home. It was strange that all through our stay in the hospital , felanie never visited us... Not even once. But what felt odd was that there was no call, nor text. I know everything seems okay with us but I can't seem to feel like something is wrong.
We arrived at the pack house and I saw so many cars packed both inside and outside the building. A strange feeling of unease settled at the pitch of my stomach. At the same time it rumbled. I was hungry. I had not had the appetite for since I was in the hospital. And thanks to the sedatives I was given to relieve the pain I was mostly asleep. But something seemed odd, because when I asked my brother in-law why we couldn't just go home, he said something weird about the alpha wanting to meet with us in person to make sure we were okay after the incident. According to him the alpha took his duties seriously. As we walked towards the double doors of the entrance, I noticed the guards and maids who were mostly omegas giving us strange looks. Well I guessed that maybe it was because news had spread about our accident so the were a bit shaken up and the looks was... out of concern. Stepping inside I noticed Anna was a step behind and she was taking a look at the decorations of the pack house. We usually never let her come here even though her dad was the Beta, we chose to live a little far away from the pack house just like ordinary people. I didn't want Anna growing up and feeling suffocated or feeling like she always had to constantly keep up a perfect appearance. Because in our world appearances matter and so is making an impression. We walked into the hall where a meeting was being held. I saw my husband in the winess box and I tried to smile , but he looked away. Well... That was strange. It seems they were having a council meeting and this was like an interrogation of some sort. I saw the panel members opposite where he stood right in the middle of the hallway a little far away was the alpha of crimson Moon pack. Our pack. What was going on?
And why was felanie being interogated ?
Now that I come to think of it my brother in-law was acting strange all throug ride and I tried to ignore it. But I failed to pay attention to his response to our conversation outside as Soon as we arrived the pack house.
Something was up.

"Cephas, where is my husband?" I asked my brother in-law who suddenly became a mute once he had picked us up at the hospital.
"He's inside. You have to followe so you can se---"he was still speaking but I didn't wait for him and cut him off. "No can do brother in-law, I appreciate the ride but you can just ask him to come take us home or we can take a cab if he is not coming" I said in an irritated tone. I was already on edge ever since I woke up from the accident at the hospital and the pregnancy was also taking a toll on me even though it wasn't visible yet. "Actually the alpha also wants to see you guys and make sure you are okay" he said. Well that was strange.
Since when did the alpha become personally involved with us?
"Okay, but why?... It's not like we are special guests so what's the big deal about seeing us?" I asked with a hint of suspicion. It struck me as odd that the alpha who was non chalant suddenly started caring about his subjects personally. Although yes we were the beta's family. But still. To me it made no sense. But what was more strange was my brother in-laws behavior he looked less composed as he spoke ...
Like was under a lot of pressure . Well yeah he was a warrior.
He was a gamma and it was said they had overwhelming confidence since they regularly faced confrontation.

Present.....
Soon I heard the alpha call me to stand beside my husband and for the life of me I couldn't remember anything he was being asked since I had zoned out immediately I walked into the hall. As I walked to the stand, still confused about being suddenly called up, I noticed the look I was getting from the elders in council. Was it disdain, hatred or maybe pity. I wondered why they stared ate like that. Only the panel and the alpha had looks of indifference and maybe anger. I wondered what was wrong. I looked through the crowd and noticed my daughter had gone to sit at a corner and my face paled when I saw who sat close to her it was a man I had hoped never to see again. Though I he looked slightly older than when I knew him i could still recognize him. It was in that moment I realized that trouble has landed on my doorstep. No wonder felanie avoided my gaze. And even cephas, this was the reason he was acting odd. This was bad and I needed to get Anna out of here immediately. But how was I going to do that? How do I make an escape in a room full of werewolves. No matter how strong my wolf was, I was outnumbered.
Suddenly the recorder was called and an elder came along with him. The elder held a book that had a moon sign and three stars
It was the book of truth by the moon spirits. It was an ancient book that was only used for swearing in serious cases. I glanced at my husband and then the alpha, searching for any clue as to what exactly I was testifying about. Because since I was told he wanted to Make sure I and my daughter were okay I wondered why I was being dragged into a mess of a trial I knew nothing about. Because I wasn't informed prior. "Greetings alpha Donald " I bowed my head. "Greetings to you too" he answered in a flat tone. I wondered where to begin but I didn't have time so I threw it out there hoping for the best. "Alpha may I know why I am being tried or made to start as a witness?... As a werewolf and a wife to your beta I have rights to know about such matters before I am being paraded in front of pack members and strangers while being summoned for questioning. I have no idea what this trial is about nor do I know why am about to take the oath of truth" I paused gauging their reaction including him. I noticed he looked uncomfortable that I challenged him and then I remembered the words of my brother in-law about the alpha wanting to ensure our safety. It was all a lie. As at that time I had no idea what it was but now I knew. He had no interest in our health but we were only lured here for this very reason. The trial!
