----------------,

The Green Goblin's gun roared relentlessly, trying to shoot the Vulture down in a single sweep. But the Vulture, relying on his superb flight skills and enhanced strength, dodged each barrage with precision and even managed to counterattack a few times.

The Green Goblin's glider couldn't reach the same altitude as the Vulture's winged suit, making it harder for him to fire accurately from below.

Suddenly, the Vulture swooped down and fired a laser blast straight at the Goblin's mounted gun, blowing it apart in a flash of sparks. The Goblin's face twisted in surprise—he hadn't expected to be matched, let alone outmaneuvered.

The Vulture seized the moment and dived for the Goblin. Just when he was about to land a finishing blow, the Green Goblin vanished from sight, leaving the Vulture to grasp at thin air.

When the Goblin reappeared, he had a gleaming dagger in hand. In an instant, he lunged at the Vulture. The blade sliced through the air with a metallic hiss, and a cold gleam flashed across the Vulture's vision. Instinctively, the Vulture flinched, cold sweat dripping from his brow.

Then, without warning, the Green Goblin stopped mid-swing, his eyes narrowing in surprise and confusion.

The Vulture had triggered a hidden function in his flight suit at the last second—an automatic defensive maneuver that saved him from the blade.

The Green Goblin glared at him, voice low and chilling. "Looks like you've got some tricks of your own."

He holstered both the broken gun and the dagger. "Since you've got some skills, I'll give you a chance. Come with me."

With that, he turned and zoomed away on his glider.

The Vulture exhaled deeply and followed. He knew if the fight dragged on any longer, he'd be the one running for his life. His energy reserves were dangerously low. For now, cooperation was survival—and perhaps the first step toward achieving his own goals.

. . . . . . . . . .

Alex Ray brought Doctor Octopus to a small villa—formerly the hideout of an illegal arms-dealing couple. Now, it was his reward for taking out another threat to the city.

After a thorough cleaning, the place looked surprisingly livable.

Doctor Octopus was set up in a vacant room while Alex leaned against the wall, eyes closed, reviewing his next moves.

From what Alex had already confirmed, this Doctor Octopus came from another universe. His Observation Haki had sensed four or five similar presences recently.

It was like the plot of Spider-Man: No Way Home—villains from different universes breaking through the multiverse, hunting Spider-Men across timelines.

Except here, Peter Parker hadn't even made his suit yet.

His uncle was still alive. He hadn't delivered the famous line: "With great power comes great responsibility."

Right now, Peter wouldn't even last one round against Doc Ock—let alone survive a team-up of villains.

If Alex hadn't appeared, this universe would have no one to defend it. Spider-Man would be killed before his story even began.

A dark future would unfold—chaos, tyranny, and unchecked destruction at the hands of multiversal villains.

His current priority was to identify the remaining intruders in this universe and eliminate them.

Only then could he complete his mission and return to his own world.

Though truth be told, Alex found the villains of the Spider-Man universe laughable. Most of them were geniuses who poisoned themselves with their own experiments—either by accident or hubris.

They got mutated into lizards, lost control of neural interfaces, or became corrupted by dark tech.

But to Alex, these were exactly the kinds of people Hell's Kitchen lacked—scientists with ambition and talent. He wasn't afraid of their inventions.

After all, no matter how wild their tech got, he had the power to stop them.

Two hours passed.

Doctor Octopus stirred, groaning as he sat up. He looked around groggily, confused. His mechanical arms were gone.

He reached for his neck, stunned by how smooth it felt—no trace of the implant that once linked him to the tentacles.

His eyes widened. Hesitantly, he slapped his own cheek, feeling the sting.

"Was it all a dream?" he whispered. "Was I never controlled by the arms?"

A voice interrupted. "It wasn't a dream. You're a professor—highly educated—and yet you let yourself be ruled by machines. Kind of pathetic, honestly."

Doctor Octopus turned to the source. Alex Ray stood casually against the wall.

"My name's Alex Ray," he said evenly. "And if I'm not mistaken, you don't belong to this universe."

Doc Ock's breath caught.

"As for how I severed the neural link…" Alex gave a small shrug. "You wouldn't understand it, but it was simple for me."

Doc Ock's pupils dilated. How did this man know about his displacement? And how had he done the impossible—breaking the arms' control?

"You're not from this universe either," the doctor guessed. "Where are we? Why am I here? Wasn't I… dead?"

"You were. Kind of." Alex kept it vague. "The difference is, I came here by choice. You were dragged in."

"But why? Why me?" Doc Ock's voice grew intense.

"Maybe you all share a common enemy."

"Who?"

"Spider-Man. Peter Parker," Alex answered calmly.

"Peter?" Doc Ock echoed, stunned.

"Yes. Your Peter. Think of it this way: you traveled back in time."

The words shook Doctor Octopus to his core. He stood abruptly, eyes wide with a mix of hope and dread. "Does that mean… I'm here too? Me—and my wife?"

His voice cracked with emotion.

Alex nodded. "Peter's only just been bitten. You haven't started your research yet. There's still time."

Alex explained the basics of parallel universes, why villains were bleeding through dimensions, and why he'd saved Doctor Octopus.

When it finally clicked, Doc Ock's expression turned grim. He realized now—Peter Parker was the linchpin of this universe's survival.

He, Otto Octavius, was nothing more than a stepping stone on Peter's path.

"Thank you," Otto said sincerely. "When this is over, I'll return with you. I've got nothing left to lose here. My life is yours."

All that remained in his heart was hope—hope that he could save this version of his wife, and maybe, in other universes, others like her.

If following Alex Ray gave him a shot at traveling the multiverse, he'd do it. As a physicist, the idea was irresistible.

Alex could feel the sincerity in his words.

He nodded. "I'll help you fulfill that wish."

At that moment, his system interface pinged with a new message:

"Congratulations, host. Otto Gunther Octavius has become your friend."

"Friendship Level: Max Stars."
