Chapter 19 - One Punch Man

After their discussion, things were quiet for a while. Eventually, Arthur mentioned, "There's an awakened tyrant and an awakened demon near the statue; that's who we need to kill the Demon to get the Shard and the Tyrant because I want to."

Kaelen asked curiously, "You want to kill the Tyrant? Why make this harder than it needs to be?"

Arthur responded, "Well, that Tyrant is quite the despicable one; not only is it proficient in mind control, it's also using the souls it harvests to make fruits in order to tempt others to protect it. I just don't like the thought of such a thing existing."

Kaelen nodded. "It does sound like quite a terrible nightmare creature. If you want it dead, I have nothing against killing it."

Arthur said to Kaelen, "Soon you will get your sword; aren't you excited?"

They had already decided who gets what Shard; the Zenith Shard they got from the Iron Spider Matriarch went to Alec since he was the only one using a spear, the one from the Slayer, the Moonlight Shard to Naamah,

The Midnight Shard from the Knight goes to Kaelen, the one from the Lord the Dawn Shard goes to Arthur, The Dusk Shard from the Stranger also goes to Alec since he was the only one who used a shield,

The Sunlight Shard goes to Glorielle, and the Starlight Shard goes to Abner.

While Brave did not get a Shard, he didn't mind as long as they got out; he was fine with it.

Kaelen replied, "Well, I'm more worried about that mind control it has. Do you have a plan?"

Arthur nodded as he replied, "Abner's armor underworld armament has moderate mind control protection. I will wear it and cut it; that tree will be helpless."

All of them nodded. Abner wasn't worried about Arthur not giving back his armor; he trusted him.

As the Journey to the Knight Statue was long, Arthur had plenty of time to talk with his cohort, as The Bright Lord Arthur was quite busy;

Not only did he hunt a lot, but he also took it upon himself to help others who chanted his true name while in danger or to catch and punish those who committed crimes.

Well, he just caught them; he let Alec, who had good knowledge of the law, do the judging when crimes happened, although they were extremely rare.

And his friends were busy too; although not as much as him, they hunted and guarded the castle just like him,

They even took it upon themselves to train sleepers who wanted to hunt or guard the castle.

So this was a rare opportunity for Arthur and them to talk for as long as they wanted.

Arthur Asked Naamah "you said you wanted to become an author. What kind of book are you planning to write?"

Naamah's response was quick: "Horror stories, specifically ghost stories, the concept of people dying with such strong negative feelings that they manifest as phantoms is reassuring."

Arthur was confused and asked, "Reassuring how?"

Naamah's reply was quick this time as well. "Because it means that people can be killed, but their feelings cannot. If someone hated something so much they became a ghost, I could only respect them.

What I really don't like the most in this world are people who only know how to live life without any passion. Everyone has a passion, forgetting it is the same as dying."

Arthur sighed as he thought to himself, 'She even finds the good in people like that. Huh, she really is an angel!'

While Arthur was talking to Naamah Kaelen Asked Glorielle "You wanted to fight in the dreamscape too, right? How about we all duel there when we get out?

It could be fun, don't you think? We could even form an alliance to bully Arthur to get our revenge for awakening before us!"

Glorielle smiled as she responded, "I like that idea; my arrogant student needs to be put in his place!"

Kaelen nodded. "Arthur, that bastard even mocks me for being more good-looking; being so jealous isn't a good thing! He really needs to learn to be more humble, and I'm sure that will teach him!"

Glorielle looked at him weirdly. "This isn't about Arthur saying he doesn't want to see your ugly face while he was busy staring at himself in the mirror for an hour the last week, right?"

Kaelen looked away and replied, his voice cracking, "W-well, c-can you b-blame me for thinking he w-was lying?"

His voice gained a lot more confidence as he looked in Arthur's direction and thought he wouldn't hear what he spoke next: "I even dare say I look better now than Arthur does as an awakened!"

Glorielle looked in Arthur's direction and saw he wasn't looking; she nodded and said, "He looks good for an awakened, but you are in a league of your own,

and his fashion sense looks like it came from another era, which must be why his true name is the Fool who Does Not Belong to this Era compared to your fashion taste; his is garbage."

Arthur, who had only heard the last part since his name was spoken last, looked at them and smiled,

"Just what are you two speaking behind my back? You should both know not to say my true name while cursing me, at least, and how dare you call my fashion sense garbage!? Everything about me is perfect, you know!"

While Arthur was "educating" Kaelen and Glorielle about his indisputable, unmatched glory, Abner shook his head and said to Alec, "Just what are these guys doing again?"

Alec, who had been watching the "drama," responded, "Last episode, Kaelen and Glorielle talked badly about Arthur, but when they mentioned his true name, forgetting in the heat of the moment that he could always hear it when uttered,

Arthur discovered their morbid intentions! Following that, the screen turned to the outro leaving us on a cliffhanger."

Abner looked at him unamused and said, "What are you talking about? This isn't a TV drama."

Abner made a little pause before he continued, "If it was, then there would be a glass that would take 5 seasons to drop and break while we stare at it for another 10."

Both Alec and Abner then stared at each other for a second before they burst out laughing.

Alec praised Abner, "That was a good one! With how grumpy you always look, your jokes always catch me by surprise."

Abner sighed as he looked at Alec. "Do I really look grumpy? I think my face looks just fine."

Alec shook his head as he told Abner, "It's not your face; it's your expression! Smile more; you're not at a funeral!"

Abner thought about it for a second before he tried to smile; it looked extremely unnatural.

Alec had a complicated expression: "Maybe the grumpy look suits you better..."

Abner looked at him confused but didn't prob thinking it was just Alec's preference.

After a week, traveling by boat, they finally reached the Soul Devourer. Arthur's plan was to kill the demon himself, with Brave assisting him from afar, and Wearing the Armor Abner lent him to Kill the Tree after that too.

Arthur wasn't worried about facing the awakened demon; he was an awakened demon himself, and he had allies he could rely on behind him.

Arthur Landed on the Island While the Rest Stayed in the Boat, Traveling Near the Land as Brave Spotted the Awakened Demon. He shot at it.

The Arrow Piercing the Demon's Arm, but with how big its arm was, it was practically a scratch, although the Enhancement [Cursed] did it's work, and its Strength and Stamina Decreased.

Then Arthur Started Spamming his Air Bullet spell; it took basically no Essence, so to him, it wasn't a loss even if all of it missed.

The awakened demon wasn't very hurt by the attacks, but he was annoyed; he charged at Arthur.

But Arthur, who knew the enhancements of his armor, just used it to make his armor as light as a feather while he dashed towards the Demon, throwing a punch at it.

At the last second, he made the armor as heavy as he could, and the awakened demon took a heavy blow, leaving a hole in its chest.

Arthur thought to himself, 'So boring; is this how Saitama feels?'

He didn't dwell on it and dashed, cutting the tree, using the enhancement of the armor to make him heavy when his sword hit, and the tree seemed to be in pain as it seemingly let out a groan.

But it did not die immediately; it tried it's best to brainwash Arthur, but it was no use; the enhancement protected him enough to cut it before the awakened Tyrant could control him.

The tree showed Arthur's fruits as if temping him to take them, but Arthur didn't spare them a glance and killed the awakened Tyrant.

As the tree fell, he heard the voice of the spell whisper in his ear again.
