Chapter 20 - A new technique

The next thing Wu Zhi read was the basics of the cultivation world. The book went on to describe some common knowledge about the cultivation world. It told him about spirit stones and how they are the currency of the cultivation world. Knowledge in commonly shared philosophy and religion. It talked about the pursuit of immortality, the great Dao, and religions similar to Buddhism, and lesser known religions local to certain areas of the world. 'It is very interesting to see the diversity of religion and philosophy based on geography'. It was important to note that the book described how big this world was. According to the book the world he was currently residing in was at the very least 1000 times larger than the world he once lived on called earth. This made the cultural climate very dependent on local customs. Even for cultivation, their are very different techniques and ideologies based on where you reside. This size eventually led to an increase of teleport formations and their importance. Flying devices used to travel the land are also just as important. Cities were built around empires, kingdoms, sects, churches and more. Overall the world that Wu Zhi found himself in was huge and with its sized came an increase in complexity to the world. 'I think that's enough research for today. The sheer amount of important knowledge I learned is incredible. Maybe I should make it a habit to study more.' Wu Zhi thought to himself.

With his research completed it was time he chose a new technique. Wu Zhi had a lot of time for himself to decide what he would chose next and he already had a pretty good idea on what he would get next. It came without saying that Wu Zhi - even with recent events - had a knowledge advantage than other people due to his memories from a past life. With a blood element it might seem there is no technique to take advantage of besides the blood resonance art. But there was one technique that he thought would be similar. Bone refinement technique was the technique he thought he should get next. Bones specifically, bone marrow was the part of the body that produced blood. Enhancing the bones with the bone refinement technique should theoretically enhance his blood as well. Making blood techniques and blood combat arts better in the future. But that was only a theory, if proven to be untrue the bone refinement technique was still a good choice regardless. It would enhance his foundation under the "body" section and should prove to be beneficial regardless of the success of his theory. There really wasn't a second option he could think of that would nearly be as good. So this was the technique he decided on practicing next.

He went up to the librarian and declared his intention on buying the technique. "I wish to purchase this technique" he said as he handed over the bone refinement art. The librarian gave him a glance and said "That will be 50 contribution points". He gave her his jade slip and waited as she brought over another jade slip he saw the his drop down to 35 as the other jade slip shot up 50 contribution points. "Alright here you go" as she handed him his jade slip and his technique back. He then made his way to his abode, ready to start studying and maybe practicing the technique.

"The bone refinement technique is a technique of using medicine and qi to refine the bones. Medicine works best but is usually very painful. Qi on the other hand is not but takes time and concentration. Medicines useful for refining bones are: jade root, nectar from a bright holy sunflower, honey from a royal honey bee, 1000 year old ginseng root, and finally a bone bonding spirit leaf. These are the most common types of medicine that will aid in the bone refinement technique". These medicines will help out tremendously if acquired and used correctly." The book then went on to describe how to refine the bones using qi if there was a lack of medicine. It noted that this method was still good but came short of other techniques just due to the sheer time sink it was compared to others. Wu Zhi didn't have any of the medicine and didn't know how to get any. So he was just going to refine it with qi. Just as he was about to start he got a knock on his door. *Knock* *Knock* "Who is it?" he said as he opened up the door. He found the delivery boy who had once transported the incense he used from elder Ming. "The Dean would like to speak with you" the boy responded. "...Ok then I will go see him" Wu Zhi said. He had no reason to suddenly refuse his backer. As that might turn his backer against him, an utterly foolish move that would be.

Wu Zhi made his way to the deans office ready to see what the dean had in store for him. *Knock* *Knock* "come in". Wu Zhi found the dean sitting at his desk like he usually was waiting for Wu Zhi to come see him. "I see you have been busy as of late. Secluded meditation for eight years straight into a high paying bounty... Quite impressive. However it rather concerns me that you have expressed no intention to see my daughter, not even once. Imagine her shock when I told her that she might have a husband just for the husband in question to completely ignore her like she doesn't even exist! Are you so ignorant that you don't even know the benefits you could receive from marrying my daughter." "Wait their are benefits I get from marrying your daughter"? "OF COURSE YOU IMBECILE. Dear me you don't even have the slightest clue." he said while sighing and clasping his hands. "Ok, if you are ignorant then let me educate you" he said.
