Wu Zhi arrived at his dorm and packed his things. This time he would let his dormmates know that he was leaving for good. Shen Zhi wasn't in the building so he went up to Zhen Feng who he had little interaction with.
"Zhen Feng, I wanted to let you know and tell Shen Zhi when you can that I will be moving out of the dorm".
Zhen Feng had a befuddled look on his face before realizing what was happing "Oh, sure thing I will let him know.... Why are you moving out the dorm"? Zhen Feng asked.
"Oh, I'm marrying a member of the Gu clan" Wu Zhi responded.
Zhen Feng suddenly had a glint to his eyes as he said "Oh, I have heard a lot about the Gu clan which member are you betrothed too"?
"Gu Xiao, the dean's daughter, anyway I got to get going make sure you pass on the information to Shen Zhi".
"Don't worry I will do so" he responded.
After that Wu Zhi brought his things to the flower garden estate. The servants were there waiting for him, ready to unload his things and help in anyway they could.
Gu Xiao arrived as she said "I have told father about our engagement. He is very happy about it and sends his blessings."
"Of course he does, he's the one that arranged this in the first place".
"I have also put out the word on your cultivation needs the clan will do their best but you probably won't see the resources until two or three days.".
"Two or three days are already fast enough for me. Say why don't I finish the promise I made to you."
"So you remembered" she said as her face bloomed like flower.
"That's right, so what did you want to do"?
After that Wu Zhi and Gu Xiao spent the next week interacting with one another. They spent time talking about various things such as hobbies and favorite food and different things over tea. They played an intense game of this worlds version of chess: it was called cultivators and kings. They had many garden walks as she led him by the hand to many secret areas that she had been building with her talents. Lush groves, fresh springs, the scent of fresh air mixed with flowers in bloom always seemed to please the nose.
"Say, what do you know about gardening".
"I know very little... are you able to use your talents to build all of this"?
"Hardly, I just take care of it and maintain it. The clan built the estate, I'm just really good at maintain it in good condition. It is one of the many reasons they let me stay here."
"I thought they let you stay here because you're the dean's daughter".
"That among many things is another reason. I suppose you don't know this but the clan has a very competitive atmosphere to it. Most young masters of the clan have to fight tooth and nail against their siblings to stake out their claim. In our clan particularly the title of young heir is the most sought after".
"I heard something about that from your father."
"Our father" she immediately corrected.
"He isn't my father until were married" she seemed to pout at the statement.
"*Sigh* yes we have to warn newcomers to the clan about the fierce competition. Everyone is fighting for benefits even if the clan itself is fighting for benefits there are people in the clan that fight for more benefits in the clan as well. It is an endless struggle for resources that gets boring fast. That is just one of the reasons my father separated me from my siblings. In a way he wanted to protect me, and in another way he wanted to see if no competition was beneficial or not for growth. It's hard to know with such a low amount of examples but the result didn't turn out bad so he was cut a lot of slack from the clan".
"Ugh, sounds like a lot of politics. Politics are only fun if you're winning".
She laughed at that statement "You could say that about practically anything".
He smiled "even losing a game of cultivator or kings was very fun for me".
She seemed to have a smirk on her face more happy about the fact that she won the game then about the statement made. "Well I'm glad you see it that way. As I will also have fun every time I beat you".
They spent most of their time just talking to each other as there was not much else to do. Notably they did go out into the sect and attend some classes together but Gu Xiao found it boring because she already knew most of the information. After a while she just decided to teach Wu Zhi herself about some matters he was ignorant about.
"What! Yangoo is 8,000 miles wide"!
"Why are you surprised, this is a relatively small country too".
"I just didn't think it was that big".
"It's not, their are hardly 17 sects in the country of Yangoo and only four of them are classified as medium sects the flying wind sect that we are a part of is ranked 2nd in the country of Yangoo with the great earth sect taking the number 1 spot".
"What's the great earth sect?" he asked.
Gu Xiao looked at him like she had just found an idiot. "The great earth sect is a sect that focuses on earth techniques. They are located in the Great Giants Spine far to the north west of here. The Great Giants Spine is a huge range of mountains that has many valleys, gorges, waterfalls, ravines, and mountains that make up a big chain together on a map. Its called the Great Giants Spine for some historical reasons and about an ancient legend in the area. In any case, part of the Great Giants Spine that is in the country of Yangoo houses the great earth sect. With a huge population, people from the sect are very proficient in building out homes using earth techniques in the area. They are without a doubt the strongest sect in Yangoo. Bordering on achieving the title of a large sect the flying wind sect doesn't even come close" she said.
