Wu Zhi woke up in his room with a splitting headache. 'Ugh, this sucks dick' he thought to himself. 'Take it, for elder Ming to give me the bone bonding spirit leaf with no warning. This is a nightmare, when will I be free'. He yearned for the days where the clan could do nothing but let him dual cultivate with his wife. He would finally be able to wash away the pain with pleasure. It was practically the only thing keeping him sane anymore. Wu Zhi had learned over the years to not act lively in order to fool the eyes of his father. It was a shame most of the time it didn't work.
"WU ZHI my boy, I have great news!" elder Ming shouted while he entered the room unannounced.
Wu Zhi wondered if these were the happiest years of elder Ming's life. The guy had a smile plastered on his face every time he saw Wu Zhi and it was starting to give him PTSD.
"Tell me what news you have to share" Wu Zhi said with his practiced fake smile.
"You have flawless bones boy, and special ones at that" elder Ming replied.
"Flawless Bones? Really?"
"Yes and they are quite special, it seems that the bone bonding spirit flower is as good as the rumors say. The clan spent quite a pretty penny to get it".
"Tell me father, what makes my bones special".
"I'm glad you asked, now that your bones have become flawless it is guaranteed that I have identified the right bones you posses.... You posses diamond bones" elder Ming said.
"Diamond bones? What are the strengths and weaknesses of diamond bones"?
"That I don't know. However! I have looked through some ancient texts and records and finally found some mention of diamond bones." elder Ming's face suddenly became serious "The records mention only one thing about diamond bones... they're unbreakable".
"Unbreakable? Then why did my bones break when I took the bone bonding spirit leaf"?
"Because you didn't have flawless bones back then idiot. In any case the records are probably exaggerating, still your bones are probably the hardest to break out of all the recorded bones" elder Ming gave his take.
'Diamonds are built under pressure. That's probably the reason why the medicine effected me so differently'. "So what now? Am I off to go practice another technique or does the clan have other plans".
"Actually the clan does have a plan for you".
'Shit' Wu Zhi thought to himself.
"You will be trained in that combat technique I gave you back when you were 6 years old. It's time we increase your battle strength and combat experience with the little time we have left before you hit 18" elder Ming responded.
"You're talking about blood berserk"?
"Yes, that's the one... now that I've thought about it you haven't used a single technique that involves your element of blood have you"?
"No, blood berserk will be my first".
"That's great, then rest up and when your ready I can personally train you in the training hall. Later I can put you up against some peers in some duals to see how well you do in combat" elder Ming said as he left the room.
"*Sigh*, I just got to make it to 18" Wu Zhi told himself.
Wu Zhi went to sleep again and woke up to look for the blood berserk technique. 'Let's see blood berserk is a berserker technique focusing on increasing heart rate, body temperature, and entering into a trance to increase combat capability.' There really wasn't much more to say. The technique couldn't be used in quick succession as you had to let your body - and more specifically your heart - rest.
Wu Zhi made his way to the training room, hoping he could get this over quick and be done with it. He saw elder Ming there waiting for him.
"Have you been trained in any weapons or combat before"?
"No"
"Alright then lets start easy, I'll bring someone your cultivation level. No weapons just fight him with your bare hands, I want to see how well you do against others".
Elder Ming then left and brought back a boy who was slightly younger than him. It had to be said that his cultivation level did rise to the 10th level of qi refinement after he achieved flawless bones. Considering the sect wanted their talents to be able to raise their cultivation level once a year Wu Zhi was technically behind one year now that he has just turned 17 a month ago. But that didn't really matter much because he wasn't focusing on gathering qi in the qi gathering realm. No, he was building up his foundation before he even hit foundation establishment. The difference was night and day.
*Smack* It took less than a minute for Wu Zhi to completely dominate his foe. The battle was a complete joke as the opponent didn't even touch him, much less leave a mark. On the other hand his opponent was out cold on the floor with froth coming out of his mouth. Wu Zhi had slapped him so hard he had knocked him out.
"*Cough*, *Cough*, ahem, it looks like I underestimated you ability compared to others" elder Ming said. "Though I suppose it only makes sense that you would beat him as you have mastered two techniques before the age of 18!" elder Ming said as he sounded more and more enthusiastic the more he talked. "I will have to get you more and stronger opponents.... Maybe we can even hold a small tournament for the sect to boost morale and test your abilities! Yes I have decided that's what we shall do" elder Ming said as he decided everything by himself with a smile on his face.
