Wu Zhi arrived at the bathhouse as usual and went strait for a cold bath.
"Ughhhh" he slowly moaned as he felt the cold water caress his skin. He was utterly exhausted and wanted nothing more than to soak in a bath and then go to sleep. He made sure he chose a cold bath this time as his skin felt burnt and he didn't want to burn it even more. After about an hour soaking in the bath he got up got dressed and headed straight for bed. He didn't even care that it was still light out. He might fuck up his sleep schedule but he was to exhausted to care. Once he made it back to his room he just passed out as soon as his head hit the pillow. He slept for an entire 24 hours before getting up again. This time he went to the dinning hall and got some breakfast from the chef.
"I made sure the chef put the bone nectar in your food" his fiancé said.
"Thanks" he casually responded.
As he ate a type of porridge he couldn't tell if it was the porridge itself that tasted that way or if it was the bone nectar that was in it. 'To be honest its not that bad... but it isn't that great either.' he thought to himself as he ate his breakfast. He didn't have any plans today so he was just going to start cultivating again. This time he was going to use qi to refine his bones and see how well that would do compared to the medicine. If Wu Zhi was honest with himself he REALLY didn't want to take the medicine again at least not so soon. He needed to give his body some respite if he wanted to do something like that again. And so that's exactly what he did. He spent the next week cultivating in his room refining his bones with qi while eating lunch and dinner with his fiancé. It was an obvious difference to refining your bones slowly with qi compared to refining them with medicine. 'It turns out the technique was right on the money. There is little to no progress from a week of cultivating, and compared to medicine the difference is as big as night and day. Their is absolutely no debate on which one is more effective for cultivation. Unfortunately it looks like I have only one option if I want flawless bones before the palace of eternal love opens up. And even then it is unlikely, however if I can make enough progress it would still be immensely beneficial for me'. Left with no other choice given his limited time there was only one way Wu Zhi would be able to achieve the expectations he sought out for himself.
"AHHHHHH, SHIT... FUCK" Wu Zhi screamed and slammed in pain as he tried his best to get control of his body. He had no idea if any of this was normal. No idea if any of this was absolutely necessary but regardless he had done it. A pain so extreme it would make people passing kidney stones look like they were having fun at the beach. As veins popped up from all around Wu Zhi's body screaming in agony. A torrent full of energy filled his bones. The process was so excruciating that he couldn't think, he couldn't blink. All he could do to endure was to bite leather and try his best to not pass out. The good news however is he didn't need to control this flow of energy as it went strait into his bones. The bad news though is that it was pure agony. The bones themselves screaming in pain as they morphed, changed, broke down only to rebuild stronger. It was mind numbing just the thought of him feeling his own bones changing was enough to make him mad. The pain that came with it only served as a distraction to the event. He could feel his bones like never before, a sensation new to him that he wanted nothing more than to forget. Eventually he grew tired and had no choice but to sit in agony silent as he tried to think of anything other than pain.
"He was screaming all last morning" the maid whispered
"I heard he was practicing a cultivation technique" another maid replied
"I don't know... but wouldn't that kind of technique be classified as a demonic technique" the first maid said.
"I would watch your mouth if I were you. People have died for less" the other responded.
As new and interesting rumors spread about Wu Zhi. The young lady was growing a little worried.
"I hope he's doing alright." Gu Xiao said
"It's just the medicine the clan gave him. Still I didn't think it would effect him this much." elder Ming said.
"how so, I heard the process of refining bones was different from person to person." Gu Xiao said.
"That's what makes this so confusing. For such a wide selection of knowledge we have of bone refining we don't have any cases of such an extreme phenomenon happing. That means that his case is almost unheard of or very rare. The types of bones he's refining could be such as well."
"Is there really no such examples of this phenomenon occurring?" she asked
Elder Ming was silent for a moment before replying "There is... it's just... how do I put this. It is very unlikely that such incidents in the past will repeat themselves here. Cases of this happening beforehand were all due to some extreme conditions that no one can really replicate. It is more likely that he will refine a set of bones we haven't seen before then of these ones that we have seen in the past".
"What does this mean. How does this bode well for Wu Zhi".
"It bodes well for him because if he does show signs of refining a set of bones we have never seen, the Gu clan will rush to send him more resources. New bones after all means new knowledge, new benefits, and new opportunities" elder Ming said.
