"Wait, they're all girls! Would they be fine?" Rye kept overthinking again while biting his thumbs nail. "They'll be fine." Ray whispered, looking at the two girls disappearing from their view as they turned to the corner of the corridor. Rye looked at his big brother, then followed the direction of where his looking. "If you say so, i guess—" He felt guilty finding himself felt relief hearing his brother say it so that if anything goes wrong, he can have someone he can blame.
*Chuckles* "I'm the real demon here." His fast changing mood creeps his big brother Ray. He didn't bother to point it out and turned to leave first. Rye catch up to him and the two walked towards the main front door.
"Oh, there they are!" Larcy spotted Mistane and Lara from the distance and shouted. "That person..." And again with the dragging and running. "HEY!" She shouted, making sure everybody heard her and saw all of them. "Back off..." Larcy said in her mind as she saw the retreating figure disappear from her sight.
"Arcy! Up, up" Lara said while doing a close-open with both her hands straight up towards Larcy. Lara scooped her up. This time, Shine didn't say anything and just held Mistane's wrist and walked her towards her bedroom. Mistane just followed her lead so does Larcy while carrying Lara.
Larcy and Shine demonstrate how to arrange the bed, tuck the sheets. Mistane tried to do the same thing while having a little trouble doing it by herself. She was about to give up but Lara mistakenly thought they were playing house. She jumped into the sheets that were lying on the floor. Mistane, who was holding the two other corners of the sheet had no time to react and was pulled down instantly making her kneel to the floor with Lara.
Larcy and Shine thought it was hilarious, they all laughed when Lara giggled and Mistane showed a big smile on her face showing her teeth.
"Can we help you?"
"AAAARGH!"
Rye was lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice the person in front of them. Maybe because Ray was always sick, he almost made no sound when he walked as if his body was light. He approached Xandra and silently went towards her back. His head was closed at Xandras' ears. His question startling both Xandra who seems to be busy with something, and his brother who's not paying attention to his surroundings.
"Goodness gracious, big brother."
"Ahh!" Xandra was startled twice. She didn't notice Rye since he was behind Ray. "You two are going to give me a heart attack." She tries to calm herself down. "I'll give that question back to you young sir. How may i help you?" She said softly but to Ryes' ears it sounded like a sarcastic remark. "Acting like a stranger when it's just us here is so.... Like you." Ray didn't even try to hide his annoyance.
"Oh right, here." Rye gave Xandra his sandwich wrapped in a handkerchief. "How—? You really think it's a great idea to use a handkerchief?"
"I figured. Besides, it's not like you're just gonna hand it back to me like that." Rye said while acting smug.
"He saw you through—"
"We saw you through the window." Rye cut his brother off before he said something that can ruin his face in front of Xandra.
Ray raised an eyebrow at him. "Here, your handkerchief, mister." Xandra handed back the handkerchief to Rye using her right hand while the other held the sandwich with her bare hand. Ray saw an embroidered rose in the corner of the handkerchief and suddenly realized something. He then rolled his eyes. "What? No just use it now, and hand it back after. I didn't mean what i said, just finish your food."
As if the mood swing wasn't enough, even the character change felt off to Ray. His little brother seems to be showing more sides of him today. Now Ray's at a loss if his brother was acting this way due to the changes in their house, or if he just did not pay attention to him just much.
"This kitten, it seems lost." Xandra showed them the kitten that she found. "Isn't that one of the kittens that I've been trying so hard to hide? How it ended up here, it was supposed to be—" Rye's mind was in turmoil when he seemed to realize something. "What's up with him?" Xandra caught on to the sudden change of mood Rye showed. It was so visible in his face, in his expression.
Ray also realizes why his little brothers' mood changes again. "We can take care of the kitten. Big sis won't get mad since it can help chase away some mice." Ray suggested. He thought his brother's mood would change again and be excited. He knew where that kitten came from. He had observed his little brother enough to know he likes to hide little animals thinking Lauri might get mad at him over it.
Unfortunately Ray was feeling good, yet Rye didn't even show much of a reaction to what he said confirming more of what Ray was thinking turning out right. Pie was probably dearer to him. Ray knew the kitten was innocent. He was sure about it, since Pie had a cage his theory was that it was the mother cat who probably killed Pie and in the process, dropped the cage that Pie was in. "She was a skilled cat." Ray had seen the mother cat unlocked and opened a window before.
Rye was silent all the way. Xandra was bothered about it but she feels like there is nothing she can do. "How will i solve the problem when I don't even know the cause? I feel like it has something to do with the kitten, but the kitten is not the main problem." "Hmmm." Xandra wrapped the kitten with the handkerchief since it wasn't dirty, she decided that she'll wash it first before returning it back to Rye.
