Chapter 9 - New Skills

Alex's parents looked at their son, waiting for a response to their requests.

"I don't think there's anything for me to learn in the 4th grade. I believe skipping a few school years is better for my future development," Alex said.

Both parents nodded but remained silent, waiting for Alex to finish explaining everything.

"I've been studying a lot these days—chemistry, physics, and mathematics, among other things. I need a space to put into practice what I've learned."

He looked at his parents, who were still watching him silently, and continued:

"I've also learned programming languages and need a computer to create some software."

After saying that, he remained silent, waiting for his parents' response.

"Alright," Jonas said.

"No, wait," Melinda interrupted.

Jonas looked at his wife, who kept a serious expression, and gestured for them to go to another room to discuss.

"Your father and I are going to talk over there. Finish your meal," Melinda said as she got up and headed toward the bedroom.

Jonas put everything aside and followed her.

"Don't worry. Your mom is probably just concerned about something. Finish eating."

Alex looked at the couple's exit and stayed quiet. Looking at his pancake, he wished for a Brazilian-style breakfast for some reason.

— Alex's Point of View —

Today, I made a request to my parents, and now they are discussing something in the bedroom.

My five senses have been getting sharper for a while now, and this ability is growing stronger.

Luckily, I can also control them freely. Even though my parents are talking, I can barely hear—just a few sentences.

My mom is worried that I might be bullied by older kids at school.

My dad says I'm special and that they shouldn't interfere with my future.

I was touched by my mom's concerns and my dad's support, even though she wants me to follow the normal path that a child should take.

In the past few days, I gained two new abilities, which I named super deduction and superhuman strength.

Super deduction allows me to focus on a specific task, using my brain's full computing power to deduce what I desire.

But there are some limitations to this ability.

First, the less knowledge I have about the task I want to deduce, the longer the process takes.

Second, deduction depends on my body's energy—more precisely, vital or chemical energy.

When I used it to deduce a quantum computer, it took a minute for me to feel exhausted.

The amount of time needed to deduce the quantum computer was too great. My body doesn't have enough energy to deduce everything.

Although I can recover quickly, I feel mentally tired.

So, I assume I can only deduce once per day because, after a night's sleep, my mental fatigue disappears completely.

As for superhuman strength, I don't have much to say. It simply made me as strong as Captain America.

While I was thinking about these things, my parents returned from their conversation.

I just pretended not to know anything, took the last bite of my pancake, and looked at them.

"Son, your father and I have agreed. We're going to take you for an evaluation on Monday and ask that you be placed in the same class as Sheldon," my mom said.

"Besides that, your mom and I agreed to let you use the garage as a lab. But no dangerous experiments! If anything like that happens, your mom and I will confiscate the lab."

I was happy to hear that. So, I stood up, hugged my mom, and thanked her:

"Thank you, Mom. I love you very much."

My mom, Melinda, was surprised by what I did. Even I was surprised.

But she also hugged me, gently ran her hand through my hair, and said in a soft voice:

"Mommy loves you too."

Author's Notes:

Thank you to all of you who have been following my work so far. I'm happy to know that, besides me, other people enjoy works in this style.

I know I don't have a fixed schedule for posting each chapter because I'm still getting used to this new routine.

I want to make one thing clear: I have nothing against the American breakfast, I just believe that anyone who leaves their country for another will miss the food from their own culture. This is to deepen the realism in my novel.

I also want to say that I'm reading the comments you've left. They help me improve—thank you!

Maybe another chapter will come out later today.

See you soon...
