Chapter 10 - Oil and Soap

Jonas just smiled at the situation and pretended not to care, but deep down, he felt jealous of his wife.

Alex noticed his father's mood. Even though he was embarrassed, he thought it would be best not to ignore it.

After letting go of his mother, he walked over to his father and opened his arms, expecting a hug.

Jonas noticed this and felt embarrassed for being seen by his son. Looking at his wife, he saw that she had a smile on her face and was watching him with a teasing look.

Jonas just rolled his eyes at his wife. Then, looking at Alex, he hesitated for a moment but soon opened his arms to embrace his son.

Father and son hugged, and Alex said:

"Dad, I love you."

For Alex, having a father was a new feeling. In his previous life, it was just him and his mother.

To be honest, he had felt jealous of his friends who had a father, but he never mentioned it to his mother because he noticed the effort she put into taking care of him.

After stepping back from the hug, Alex asked:

"And what about the computer?"

He looked at both of them, seeking an answer. In truth, he knew this would be the hardest request for them.

"At the moment, we can't afford to buy a computer. We just moved, and money is tight. Sorry, son," Melinda said with an apologetic look.

"But in three months, it might be possible to buy one for you. What do you think?" Jonas said.

Alex thought for a moment. It was just as he had imagined, and he replied:

"That's okay, it's not important right now. I'm happy that you believe in me."

Alex said with a happy smile.

"…"

After the family breakfast, Alex went out with his mother. They both went to the supermarket to shop.

Alex was amazed at the number of different brands for the same product.

The variety of brands made Alex sigh. In Brazil, he had never seen so many options.

As he walked through an aisle, something caught his attention: soap.

Memories flooded back. When he was helping with the move, he had seen several bottles filled with used oil.

He remembered that his mother liked to store oil that was no longer useful. After accumulating a large amount, she sold it to a company that collected oil for recycling.

In his previous life, Alex had learned to make soap with his mother. Thinking about this, he had a great idea.

Now he needed money. If he made soap to sell, he could save up and buy the computer.

With his intellect, Alex could make money in the stock market or design something and sell it.

But Alex was still just a nine-year-old boy. Even though he was a genius, he needed a responsible adult to handle such business matters.

If he made soap to sell, however, he wouldn't need an adult's help for this small venture.

Besides, Alex already knew the perfect place to sell his products.

With these thoughts in mind, Alex spoke to his mother:

"Mom, can you buy something for me?"

Hearing Alex's voice, Melinda looked at her son and asked:

"Do you want candy? As long as it's nothing expensive, just grab it and put it in the cart."

Hearing this, Alex shook his head and shared his plan with his mother.

Melinda, upon hearing her son's idea of making soap with discarded oil, was surprised for a moment.

Looking at Alex with a firm gaze, she believed in her son and decided to help him.

Besides, it would also benefit her—she wouldn't need to buy soap anymore.

After purchasing the necessary items to make soap, they finished their shopping and returned home.

After helping his mother put away the groceries, Alex took his supplies and went straight to the garage.

Looking at the stacked boxes, Alex felt it would be a lot of work to transform that space into a laboratory.

In his previous life, he liked the animated series Rick and Morty and thought about turning the garage into his personal space.

Although he wasn't as intelligent as Rick Sanchez yet, he felt that he could surpass him in the future.

During this time, he realized that his intellectual growth was still far from reaching its limit.

Author's Note:

The story has been unfolding steadily. I hope you all notice that.

Earlier, I mentioned that the story might not revolve around the Cooper family's plot, but I thought about the reason I wrote this story.

In the TV series, I really liked the character Mr. George. Even knowing that he would die, I wondered: what if I had the power to change that ending?

My father passed away when I was 12 years old. I was very young, which made me identify with young Sheldon, although I wasn't a genius like him.

There is also the character Paige Swanson. I thought her ending was very unfortunate. From the beginning, I liked her and wanted to give her a better conclusion!

The way I found to do that was by writing this novel. If the theory that our dreams or ideas create parallel universes is true, then the MC would be a reflection of me in this new unfolding reality.

That's all for today. Thank you!
