Wendy moved to the apartment where Demian was living.
His apartment was large, located on the top floor of a worn-down but strangely elegant old building in the middle of Ravenport.
And it showed that the way he had been living—picking fights with gangs and doing missions for criminals—was earning him a lot of money, allowing him to live a fun life.
Wendy felt a bit guilty for living there. She knew that every night Demian left the apartment, it was because he was doing something bad.
She couldn't see his future clearly, but every time he leapt out of the building through the windows using his vampiric powers, she had flashes of visions filled with fights, blood, and death.
The girl followed his orders and used her clairvoyance to tell Demian more about his enemies, that helped him avoid threats before they even had a chance to do anything.
One day, Demian returned injured to the apartment.
A mission had gone wrong. It had been a trap.
A big group of thugs had all been waiting for him inside a warehouse.
To make things worse, there was someone there who had the same skills as him. The two had fought, and Demian had barely escaped with his life. He felt humiliated and weak. Since becoming a Vampire, he had never lost in a fight, and even when he was a human, he was proud of his skills.
"Master?!" Wendy gasped when she saw him in that state.
His legs were shaking, and he could barely stand. She had to help him lie down on the bed in his room.
He was dying. She could feel the aura of death clinging to him, and it scared her.
The visions she had about Demian told her something else:
Her master would die because of a battle, but not that night.
Wendy was still afraid. She didn't want to lose the only person who didn't fear her, who didn't see her as a monster that should be kept at a distance.
"Blood..." he murmured.
Without thinking twice, the girl brought her wrist to his mouth, and desperate to survive, not wanting to die, the vampire bit.
His fangs sank into her arm, and he began to drink her blood.
But she wasn't just any human.
The blood of a Siren was delicious... dangerously so.
Demian kept drinking, even as the girl screamed in pain.
Wendy began to feel weak and tried to pull away, but the vampire was far stronger.
He would have killed her.
But for the first time, he stopped himself from draining someone completely.
Neither of them said a word in that moment.
Wendy was too exhausted from the blood loss and collapsed beside him.
And though his body had begun to recover, the vampire also fell asleep—both of them lying together on that bed.
Finally, once they were both recovered, Demian knew he couldn't let the man who had defeated him in combat remain alive.
However, finding that man would be nearly impossible.
The best choice was to use Wendy.
"Of course, Master. I'll do my best to find out everything I can," she said.
Wendy began roaming the city's bars, walking into the most dangerous places she could find. She was afraid of what might happen to her, but in the shadows, Demian was always watching over her.
Anyone who posed a threat to the girl disappeared.
She became known as untouchable, because everyone who tried to mess with her ended up dead in some dark alley of Ravenport.
She was the perfect spy.
She didn't need to interrogate anyone. All that was needed was for her to look at a person, and she would know what they were going to do in the future and with whom they would interact.
That created a web of social connections.
Demian might have seemed like nothing more than a brute who enjoyed violence, but with Wendy's notes, he managed to look at all those connections and track down everyone involved in the trap from that night.
"Is that everything, Master?" the girl asked.
They were standing at the top of the building where they were living.
"Yes. You did a good job," he said, finally offering a smile that seemed genuine.
He was proud of her for using her power to achieve a goal.
"Thank you," she said, blushing slightly.
"Master... Are you afraid of dying?" She looked at him, once again, she had the vision of him dying in a fight, and feared that she was helping him to die.
The boy kept his smile.
"Of course not." He said, clenching his fist and looking at her. "I'm a vampire so I have the power to survive anything. When I finish with this problem that came up, we can plan how to take over this city."
Demian's ambitions had grown since he saw Wendy's abilities.
"But now I have to go." He said focused and ready for the battle.
Wendy nodded, and immediately the vampire jumped off the rooftop and disappeared into the night, heading towards the man who almost killed him.
"Don't die, master." Wendy said to herself, not wanting to lose the only person in her life.
