"W-who are you?!" They both panicked, as one of them took out a knife from his waist. "Alarm the others!" He spitted those words as the other one reached for his radio. But as I crushed the air surrounding it, the radio turns to shreds at the same.
"What the?!" Their feet turned, and ran toward the gate with all the might they could get, but I pulled the air toward me. Kicked them by their napes, leaving them both unconscious on the wet ground.
Luckily. There are no CCTV cameras around, making my entry a bit easy. This is too reckless for a house of a rich man.
A quiet hallway greeted me next. Few turns and I soon realized how wide the place really is. I couldn't find the right place to search first.
Fin told me based to how he could still remember, Shin Chul is the sole owner of the hard-drive where all the informations of the organization were stored.
Fin isn't sure where it was hidden now, but last thing he remembered, it's inside Shin's watch. But the odds are too high. Shin Chul was known as a very careful man, just like his father. And except him, no other people had the knowledge of the current hiding spot of the hard-drive.
I've been running around the place for almost half an hour now. Opening every close doors for possible clues which ended a complete waste of time. I sighed as I went downstairs through a basement. This is the last part of the house in which I did not check.
Shin Chul's nowhere to be found, even by his office in the second floor. Thinking of how this mansion being an unsecured place, keeping only two guards outside and no cameras for more security backups. I'm beginning to feel something's not really right about this place.
I reached the bottom of the stairs. The door's slightly ajar, so I step closer in a nice slow movement. And peeked through the gap carefully without making a single noise at all.
This basement is crappy and old. There's a small light by its dusty roof, almost at my head's reach. I saw nothing other than that. So I step right in, before noticing another hallway by my right. I walked there in silence.
It's too dark to walk on. But not that far, I reached its end and another door greeted me.
I was about to grab the doorknob when I heard continuous groans inside. Sounds like someone's punching someone, which results the groans I heard from it.
"Please, stop!"
"Give me the hard-drive, now!"
I know that voice. One of them is unknown to me, but the second voice is oddly familiar, there's no doubt about it. It's probably him.
Something's definitely going on here. Why is he beating someone in this kind of place?
The beating continued. I couldn't find the courage to just barge into other people's business just to see what's really happening. Instead, I decided to pressed my ear on the door hoping to hear more something clearer inside.
"Please, I'm begging you to stop!" The unknown voice continued to plea. "i'll give you what you want. Money, treasure—anything! But not the hard-drive!"
Then the other guy punched him again as I heard a jaw cracked. I winced just by thinking about how that much could hurt. The punches continued until the other guy almost choked to death.
"Don't make a fool of me." I heard that one familiar voice again. "where is it, Shin Chul. Last chance!"
"You'll never get it other than my treasure!" Then the other guy's voice sounded like a laughter now. "you're just wasting your time!"
"I'll find it eventually. You can die here and now."
"Do it! Let's see if you can do it without me. If I disappear or die, all of those informations will automatically spread and the whole world will know what and who you really are. Wanna give it a try? Kill me!"
I heard a gun clicked. What should I do? Is he gonna do it? No. Not happening. If Shin Chul dies here, there'll be nothing good coming after this.
Shin Chul then laughed again. "What are you waiting for? Shoot!"
I gritted my teeth as I grabbed the doorknob infront of me. But I still couldn't push myself to do it.
Dammit. Just open it!
"What's taking you so long? Shoot me—shoot me right now!" Until I heard a continued fire of the gun. A deafening sound I didn't expect to hear right at that very moment.
With my abrupt movement, I finally pushed the door open and saw what's inside the room. A guy, gravely beat up sitting on the floor. Both hands tied to a pole behind him. And a bleeding right feet from that gun.
His whole face has swollen. It shouted in great pain. But not for long, I quickly turned my gaze to the guy with him.
He was shocked as he pointed the pistol towards me. "Mr. Valentine?"
He's still calm about it.
"Nolan. What's the meaning of this?" I asked without thinking too much. I'm simply just shock right now and don't know what to do.
"I should be asking you the same thing." He returned the question.
"Just answer my question."
He smirked. "I am not obliged to answer that. Also, you're already retired. What exactly are you doing—wait. If my hunch is right, you must be working for this man now."
"You're wrong." He's definitly wrong but the situation I'm in now, looked right from his point of view.
"Then why are you here?" He raised his voice.
My eyes turned to slits. I'll never let him know that I'm after the same thing as he is. They'll probably find out about Fin if they did.
"You're a civilian now, Mr. Valentine so I'll repeat the question," he tightened the grip of his gun, "why are you here?"
