Chapter 10 - chapter 9.

The Facility – Genetics Lab

The walls shook.

Dust drifted from the ceiling vents.

The distant roar of the Indominus Rex echoed across the complex like a death knell.

Inside the genetics lab, Vic Hoskins worked with precision, not fear. He'd known this day would come. The moment the Indominus broke containment, it stopped being an amusement park—it became an arms race. And he planned to win it.

> "Bag everything we can carry," Hoskins barked at the team of armed men and lab techs scrambling around him.

"Embryos, DNA samples, hard drives—especially the ones on Specimen X and the raptors."

Technicians rushed past with cryo-containers packed with labeled vials:

Tyrannosaurus Rex

Velociraptor

Carnotaurus

Specimen X (Setan Ular)

Indominus Rex

Indoraptor (Prototype Data)

Even Dr. Henry Wu had already abandoned the lab hours earlier, forced to leave his unfinished research behind. There was no time left, and no safe means to transport Project X—not after it evolved and entered chrysalis form. But Wu had taken what he needed.

> "Heh," Hoskins smirked to himself.

"The old man will finish his little pet in a bunker somewhere. But I'm gonna build an army."

Suddenly, the lab doors hissed open.

Owen Grady, Claire, and the kids—Zach and Gray—stepped into the room, guns raised, eyes scanning.

Owen immediately recognized what was happening.

> "What the hell is going on here?" he growled.

Hoskins turned with that smug look Owen hated.

> "Contingency plan," he replied coolly.

"You think we were gonna let all this go to waste? We're securing valuable assets. Building the next step in defense evolution."

Claire stepped forward.

> "You're weaponizing dinosaurs. You're trying to take the research!"

> "Trying?" Hoskins scoffed.

"This research is already mine. Wu's gone. Masrani's dead. This park's a crater. Someone has to control what comes next."

Gray and Zach flinched as a roar echoed even closer.

> "That thing is still out there," Claire hissed.

Owen stepped forward, eyes locked on Hoskins.

> "You're playing god with creatures you can't control."

> "Control is relative," Hoskins said, holding up a cryo-case.

"But loyalty? That's something you can breed.

The sound of packing equipment and alarms blaring filled the air inside the genetics facility. Hoskins had what he came for — vials of genetic material, including those from Specimen X and the Indominous Rex — locked inside a cryo-case.

> "Alright, let's move!" he ordered, turning to exit.

But just as he stepped toward the door—

THUD.

A low growl echoed from the hallway.

The fluorescent lights flickered.

From the shadows, Delta lunged into view — eyes glowing, snarl twisting her snout in hatred. She landed silently, claws tapping the tile floor as she stalked toward Hoskins, tail low, muscles coiled.

> "Oh—no—no—easy, girl," Hoskins stammered, raising a shaking hand. "I'm on your side, remember? We gave you everything—!"

Delta snarled.

Then she pounced.

A scream ripped through the genetics lab, the shriek of tearing flesh and shattering glass echoing down the corridor.

Just outside, Owen, Claire, Zach, and Gray froze at the sound. Blood ran cold. But Owen knew better than to mourn just yet.

> "We need to go. Now," he said lowly, pulling Claire behind him as they bolted down the hallway.

They didn't get far.

From the opposite end, another low growl echoed — this time more restrained. Blue stepped into view, head tilted, golden eyes locked on Owen. Behind her, the other raptors appeared, snarling softly.

Everyone skidded to a halt. Zach instinctively held Gray behind him.

Owen took a cautious step forward, slowly raising both hands. His voice came calm, steady.

> "Easy, girl... it's me."

Blue snarled. Her claws scraped the floor. Tension thickened like fog.

And then—her eyes softened.

She chuffed.

The others relaxed. In a blink, the feral glint faded from their gaze. They recognized him.

Owen slowly crouched.

> "That's right. We're together. Like always."

Claire exhaled. Zach blinked in disbelief. Even Gray cracked a grin.

But the relief was short-lived.

THOOM.

THOOM.

Trees trembled outside. Birds scattered. The earth itself seemed to hold its breath.

Through the treeline, an enormous shadow emerged, pushing aside palm trees like weeds.

The Indominous Rex.

Covered in ash and blood, eyes burning with predatory fury, it locked eyes with the raptors.

With Owen.

With prey.

All serenity shattered.

> "Run," Owen said.

The Indominous Rex had finally reached the central plaza, its massive frame towering over wrecked buildings and shattered stalls. Blood dripped from its claws, smoke rising in the distance from the chaos left in its wake.

Owen stood in its path, his rifle finally unslung.

> "This ends here," he muttered under his breath.

He gave a sharp whistle — a command.

The three remaining raptors sprang into action. From different angles, they lunged at the hybrid predator, tearing at its sides and slashing its thick hide.

The Indominous snarled and thrashed, but the raptors were relentless.

Then, in a single, brutal motion — the beast clamped its jaws around one of them mid-leap, crushed it, and hurled its limp body into a wall. The thud was sickening. Another raptor down.

Behind the chaos, Claire, Zach, and Gray ducked for cover behind a toppled food cart. The ground shook. Screams echoed from far-off survivors still reeling from the earlier pteranodon attack.

> "We're gonna lose them," Gray whispered, his eyes wide as he watched the raptors being overwhelmed.

Claire didn't answer. She couldn't.

Then Gray turned to her.

> "We need more."

> "More what?" she asked, breathless.

> "More teeth."

The words hit her like lightning. Her eyes darted to her waist — where her walkie-talkie sat clipped.

She snatched it. Pressed the button.

> "Lauren, this is Claire. The raptors are losing. We need something bigger."

Static.

Then Lauren's voice crackled back.

> "Checking… hold on. There's… there's Rexy in Paddock 9. And on paddock X—holy shit."

Claire tensed.

> "What is it? What's in Paddock X?"

There was a pause.

> "Something new. A hybrid. No idea what it is. Wu's project — he called it… Project X."

Claire didn't hesitate.

> "Open it."

> "What?! Claire, we've already got one monster loose! If I open this—"

> "God damn it, Lauren!" Claire snapped. "Be a man for once in your life. Open the damn gate."

There was silence on the other end. Then:

> "Opening Paddock X."

A loud mechanical clunk echoed across the jungle outskirts. Hydraulic doors hissed as the thick gate to Paddock X began sliding open.

Claire stood just outside.

A gust of cold air blew out as the shadows inside shifted.

Two glowing red eyes blinked open in the darkness.

Something enormous began to move.

---

Alex had been asleep, coiled beneath the dense artificial foliage of Paddock X, when the sound of sliding metal rumbled through the enclosure.

His crimson eyes snapped open.

The reinforced gate hissed as it retracted into the concrete wall, revealing a sliver of the outside world for the first time since his transformation.

Alex slowly rose to his feet — all fours — muscles rippling under overlapping black armor-like scales. His new form cast a looming shadow against the back wall, and as he stretched his massive frame, the spikes along his spine scraped against the reinforced ceiling with a metallic screech.

A toothy grin spread across his elongated jaws, rows of jagged teeth glistening in the low light.

> 'About damn time.'

His gaze locked onto the woman standing at the edge of the open paddock — Claire Dearing. She held a lit flare in one hand, crimson smoke trailing behind it, and was already turning to run.

Smart. She knew what was coming.

Thud.

Thud.

THUD.

With each massive step, Alex picked up speed. The earth trembled under his weight as he barreled out of the paddock like a shadowy hurricane. Trees whipped past him in a blur, brush crushed beneath his armored underbelly. He tore through the jungle with terrifying velocity, his dagger-like tail spike swaying behind him like a scythe waiting to strike.

He didn't care for stealth now. He wanted them to see him coming.

To feel it.

To remember it.

The flare was a signal. A call to war.

Ahead, Claire sprinted toward the central plaza, now a battlefield of death and chaos. She dared a glance back — just in time to see the massive armored serpent-hybrid thundering toward her. But instead of fear, her eyes held hope.

Because this was her gamble.

And Alex was her final card.

Up ahead, the Indominous Rex still roared in fury, fighting the two surviving raptors. Its hide was scarred, jaws snapping wildly as it whipped its tail and sent one raptor tumbling. It was winning.

But that was about to change.

Because something worse was coming.

Something smarter.

Something deadlier.

And it wanted blood.
