Lily POV
The silver knife cut deep into my palm, and I gasped as blood dripped onto the old stone altar.
"Don't stop now," Grandmother Stone whispered anxiously. "The moon is at its highest point. If we wait any longer, you and Ethan will both be dead by morning."
My hand shook as I held it over the glowing bowl. Three drops of my blood fell into the whirling mist inside, and the entire cave lit up with bright white light. Ethan stood across from me, his own hand bleeding, his eyes locked on mine.
"Together," he said softly.
We had been planning for this moment for three weeks. Ever since the Christmas Choosing, the mate bond between us had gotten stronger every day. But something was wrong. Instead of bringing us closer, it was killing us.
