Chapter 6 Wonderful, Truly Wonderful
"Lin Yi, why don't you spar a little with Li Weiguo and Li Weidong, so I can see whose skills are superior," Lin Haoran suggested.
If Li Weidong and Li Weiguo's abilities were even close to Lin Yi's level, Lin Haoran would already be very satisfied.
Such skills would be more than enough for them to serve as his bodyguards.
"Young Master, with all due respect, they are no match for us. It's not that we intend to bully them, but I believe that I alone would be enough to handle both of them," Lin Yi said confidently.
Li Weidong was about to retort, but Li Weiguo lightly tugged his sleeve, signaling him to stay silent.
He knew that he and his brother were outsiders, taken in by kindness. Therefore, he didn't want to come across as arrogant or presumptuous in front of these men.
"Words are meaningless. I trust Li Weiguo and Li Weidong are quite capable. Let's do this: Lin Yi, why don't you first spar with Li Weiguo? True strength will reveal itself in a match," Lin Haoran said with a smile.
After speaking, Lin Haoran turned to Li Weiguo and asked, "Are you confident?"
"Young Master, I have full confidence. I will not disappoint your expectations!" Li Weiguo answered firmly.
"In that case, let's fight!"
Lin Haoran was full of anticipation.
The two men nodded to each other and, with understanding, walked out to the open ground in front of the dormitory building, standing face to face.
Lin Yi quickly entered a combat stance. His body was agile, his steps light and sharp like a leopard, and he launched himself at Li Weiguo, trying to suppress him with speed and agility.
However, faced with Lin Yi's fierce attacks, Li Weiguo remained exceptionally calm.
He did not rush to counterattack but stood firm like a boulder, his eyes fixed steadily on Lin Yi's every move.
Whenever Lin Yi tried to close in, Li Weiguo would defend with just the right amount of force and at just the right angle, causing Lin Yi's attacks to feel like they were hitting cotton—completely ineffective.
As time went on, Lin Yi gradually realized that his usual advantage in speed and agility was ineffective against Li Weiguo.
Meanwhile, Li Weiguo began to exert more force. Every move he made carried both power and precision, forcing Lin Yi to retreat again and again.
Finally, during a fierce exchange, Li Weiguo caught a small opening.
He suddenly stepped forward, his body moving like a tiger descending a mountain, and punched directly at Lin Yi's chest.
The punch was powerful and fast. Although Lin Yi tried his best to defend, he was still pushed back several steps, nearly losing his balance.
Seizing the opportunity, Li Weiguo followed up quickly, launching a flurry of strikes like a raging storm.
Though Lin Yi tried hard to defend, he was eventually overwhelmed by the relentless assault and was struck heavily in the abdomen, causing him to stumble and fall.
"Admit defeat!" Li Weiguo said, giving a martial artist's salute with his fists.
Lin Yi's face darkened. One hand clutched his abdomen, while the other supported him as he struggled to stand.
His eyes showed deep unwillingness—clearly, the match had dealt him a serious blow.
"I lost," he admitted.
On the sidelines, Lin Er, Lin San, and Lin Si were all wide-eyed in shock.
They knew Lin Yi's strength very well; he had always been regarded as the strongest among the four.
Yet now, seeing Lin Yi defeated so decisively, they could hardly believe their eyes.
If even Lin Yi lost to Li Weiguo, what chance did they have?
Clap, clap, clap! Lin Haoran suddenly began applauding, his face filled with a satisfied smile.
"Wonderful, truly wonderful! Weiguo, your performance was flawless, exceeding all my expectations!" he laughed heartily, offering high praise to Li Weiguo.
Li Weiguo's performance had truly delighted him.
Initially, Lin Haoran would have been satisfied if Li Weiguo's skills were merely close to Lin Yi's level.
However, after watching the match, Lin Haoran realized that Li Weiguo hadn't even used his full strength at first—he had mainly defended to give Lin Yi some face.
There was no need for further sparring now. Lin Haoran already understood Li Weiguo's strength, and Li Weidong, being even stronger, was likely even more formidable, as Li Weiguo himself had tacitly acknowledged earlier.
"Lin Yi, it seems you sustained some injuries during the match. Take the next few days to rest in the dormitory. Lin Er, Lin San, and Lin Si, you stay and keep an eye on the factory. I'm heading back to the city, so you must make sure nothing goes wrong. If anything happens, you'll answer for it!" Lin Haoran ordered the four.
"Young Master, the Old Master instructed us to protect your personal safety. How can we let you go alone?" Lin Er protested anxiously.
After all, their responsibilities were not just to protect him but also to report back to Eldest Young Master Lin Haoning.
If they were separated from Young Master Lin Haoran, how could they fulfill their duties as spies?
"You don't need to worry about that. I'll personally explain the situation to my father. As for my safety, I'm very comfortable with Li Weiguo and Li Weidong handling it," Lin Haoran said firmly.
Lin Er and the others wanted to say more, but Lin Haoran didn't give them the chance.
"Go back to your work. I'll be driving back to the city soon. Remember what I said—if anything happens to Huafeng Cement Factory, you'll be held responsible!"
Without waiting for a response, he turned and left.
He needed to pack up his things and drive away from Yuen Long, heading back to Kowloon City.
Li Weiguo and Li Weidong naturally followed closely behind him.
Meanwhile, Lin Yi and the others remained where they were, exchanging worried glances.
"Lin Yi, what should we do?" Lin Er asked.
"We'll have to report this to the Old Master immediately. If anything happens to Young Master, we can't avoid being blamed. Also, Lin Er, remember to call Eldest Young Master and give him a detailed report about everything that's happened these past few days," Lin Yi said, massaging his sore abdomen with a sigh.
Their mission might not have been honorable, but in their current positions, they had no choice.
Since they had chosen to serve Eldest Young Master, they had to follow through to the end.
As for Young Master Lin Haoran—they could only apologize. His future simply wasn't as bright as that of Eldest Young Master.
"It seems there's no other way. Honestly, the Young Master has almost no chance of winning the inheritance competition. I don't understand what Eldest Young Master is so worried about," Lin Si said, shaking his head, full of confusion and helplessness.
"Exactly, Eldest Young Master is being way too cautious!" Lin San chimed in, fully agreeing.
"Enough. Stop chatting. Be careful—walls have ears. Eldest Young Master naturally has his own strategic reasons. Our job now is to keep our mouths shut and not let Young Master Lin Haoran catch wind of anything. I'm going to call the Old Master now. You all get back to your work," Lin Yi said, ending the conversation.
