Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: The Death of King Piccolo

"I understand, sir..."

Being sent to an unknown planet for research stirred a trace of fear in Dr. Gero's heart about the future.

Just then, he suddenly felt Lynx place his hand on his head.

"Sir, what are you doing?"

"I'm boosting your strength. Otherwise, with your old bones, you'd be crushed by the gravity on Planet Vegeta — it's ten times that of Earth."

A golden light suddenly shone from Dr. Gero's body. The old man, seemingly in his fifties or sixties, felt as if he had become decades younger.

"Power! My body is filled with power!"

Thanks to Lynx's potential development, Dr. Gero's battle power surged to over 900, comparable to a lower-class warrior from Planet Vegeta.

"Work hard for me — maybe someday I'll even restore your youth," Lynx said.

"Y-yes, sir! Thank you, sir!"

At this moment, Dr. Gero was just beginning his research into advanced androids. The more powerful androids that would surpass Earth's fighters had not yet been developed. With the aid of the universal capsule, Dr. Gero quickly packed up all his lab equipment.

"Sir, I'm ready."

"Mm." Lynx nodded, glanced at the now-empty lab, then asked, "Did you take the computer from the basement?"

Lynx recalled that underground in Gero's lab was a computer that continued research after Gero's death, eventually completing the ultimate android, Cell.

"The basement?"

Hearing this, Dr. Gero hesitated. "Sir, there's nothing down there."

Lynx realized he had overthought it — it seemed that Gero's lab hadn't been expanded yet.

"All right, then let's go."

With that, Lynx, Dr. Gero, and Hannah instantly teleported directly to Planet Vegeta.

"Hannah, you take care of Dr. Gero and arrange everything. I need to return to Earth to handle some matters."

After entrusting Dr. Gero to Hannah's care, Lynx returned to Earth — his goal: the ongoing battle against King Piccolo.

In the original story, this was Goku's first major boss fight, and Lynx didn't want to miss it.

...

At that time, the rejuvenated King Piccolo had already stormed the human kingdom's palace and crowned himself the new king.

Having endured the effects of the Ultra Divine Water, Goku was reborn with renewed strength thanks to the Saiyan blood flowing in him. His battle power now reached 270, slightly surpassing King Piccolo.

When Lynx arrived above the palace, Bardock and Gine were still there.

"Bardock, you're still here?"

"Your Majesty." Bardock and Gine bowed to Lynx. "Kakarot is rushing this way. We plan to watch how he deals with this Namekian."

"Then let's watch and see."

As in the original story, Master Roshi had already died after using the Mafūba (Evil Containment Wave) to seal King Piccolo.

Tien inherited Master Roshi's will and learned the Mafūba, but when he arrived, he found the container for the technique was broken. Forced to face King Piccolo head-on, he was soundly defeated and near death.

At that moment, young Goku finally arrived from the horizon.

"Kakarot's battle power is already 270? In just a few hours, it increased by one-third! How did he do it?"

Gine was amazed seeing Goku's power level.

"That's the wonder of Earth," Lynx commented beside her.

Though Earth was insignificant in the universe, it possessed many miracles — the Ultra Divine Water, the Namekian Dragon Balls — all incredibly rare treasures in the cosmos.

Under their watchful eyes, the battle between King Piccolo and Goku began.

They clashed fiercely around the palace, exchanging countless ki blasts that tore the already-ruined palace surroundings into utter wasteland.

Gradually, the fight neared its climax. King Piccolo, exhausted and desperate, realized he was no match for Goku.

At a critical moment, he grabbed the immobilized Tien, using him as a hostage to threaten Goku.

"Hahaha! Don't move, or I'll crush his head!"

"Tien! Damn it!"

Goku struggled but dared not move.

Smirking, King Piccolo grabbed a rock, ready to crush Goku's limbs while holding the hostage.

"Don't move, kid! One wrong move and he's dead!"

King Piccolo sneered, aiming the rock at Goku, then suddenly blew on it.

Smack!

Just as the rock was about to hit Goku, a figure suddenly intercepted it.

"Ah?"

Goku stared dumbfounded at the newcomer, while Bardock looked shocked in the sky.

"Damn it! Gine, you fool!"

The figure standing before Goku was none other than his mother, Gine.

"You fool, why don't you just finish off that Namekian already?"

"Auntie? What? If I move, Tien will..."

"You're too soft! Not like a Saiyan at all! Fine, this time I'll help you!"

With that, Gine flashed next to King Piccolo, lightly waved her hand, and severed his left arm, rescuing Tien.

"My... my arm!" King Piccolo screamed, stunned to find a new warrior aside from the kid.

What had happened on Earth during his centuries-long imprisonment?

"All right, kid! I saved your friend. Now finish off this Namekian!"

"I will! Thanks, Auntie!"

Goku shouted, focusing all his power into his right fist before charging King Piccolo with full force.

King Piccolo, crazed and missing an arm, wildly hurled multiple ki blasts.

The blasts headed to Goku, exploding in a dazzling flash.

But amidst the light, Goku suddenly vanished and reappeared, delivering a punch that pierced King Piccolo through.
