Man am I nervous or what and this suit is not helping. Since it's a big competetion breeders were expected to dress up. Even the oh so beautiful nurse joy can't calm me right now. I mean it is an important milestone in my life. An internship with the top breeder is something everyone dreams. It is not unknown to everyone that being a breeder requires high ammount of connections. It is not easy to become one.
If not for Regina I would not have known that such competetions exist and just would have tagged along with ash. Then only I saw Lily. It turns out that she has already won a conquest in cerlulean city. She is going to be tough to beat. In the days remaining I researched all I could about the competetions. It has a talent round, a mini competetion and a battel round. It is judged by nurse joy, Miss Bretheren(top 10 breeder of the world) and Mr Brethernove(top 10 breeder of the world).
Many breeders were taking part and were they good or what. But Lily and her Poliwhirl outperformed everyone. They were juggling but with different objects like dumbles to show off his strength and also to show how well taken care of he is. It was my turn next.
"Go Zubat." I sent out my zubat. We began playing with Frisbee. Though zubat showed certain acrobatics while catching and tossing it back. After returning to green room I was nervous, like really when
"Hey Brock" I turned to see Regina calling me with everyone else.
"You did pretty good out there." Regina.
"Thanks Regina but only eight breeders will advance to second round and I am really scared of messing up." Brock admitted.
"Don't worry Brock you won't lose." Misty
"Should't you support you sister misty I am hurt." Lily suddenly said with an amused smile while coming towards us. Misty just stuck out her tongue but it was obvious that she was supporting Lily from the blue color sticks she is holding. Not that I mind.
"You were really good too Lily." Forest complimented her.
"Well I did love to study about how to care for your pokemon in free time." Lily stated. Suddenly result were being announced. I was in second place first being Lily.
We proceeded to second round. It was a race
"Go zubat" I chose zubat again. I saw that it was close to evolution and so decided to push it via this race. Lily chose Goldeen. Others were not upto remark if I were to be honest.
Zubat was flying as fast as he could. But goldeen was a fast swimmer.
"Goldeen use bubblebeam" It hit zubat. He was hurt. He started to fall behind.
"Zubat come on just a little longer." I called out. Suddenly he began to glow and lo it was a golbat. He began to fly extremely fast.
"Evolution won't save you Brock. Goldeen swim fast. Let's win this thing." It was a close match. It turned out to be a draw. The ones to qualify for finals were me and lily.
-In the green room-
"That was a great battel brock." Ash said.
"Yeah the third round is a pokemon battel between the top two finalist." Mairin said.
"Thanks guys. I am planning to use geodude." I said.
"But does'nt Lily have many water pokemon. Is it a good idea." Regina asked.
"I have a plan. Don't worry Regina." I said.
"All the best brock." Alain said. I nodded at that. Can't believe how far I have come. I can't lose now.
--In the battel field--
"Go Gloom" Lily
"Go Geodude."
"Geodude use fire punch."
"Gloom dodge and use petal dance." It hit on it's mark. "Geodude are you okay" Geodude just nodded at that.
-Third pov-
"I can't believe how strong brock is. Guess I will challenge him again after gaining eight badges so that he can battel me with his full potential. So with you misty." Regina said.
"Definitely." Misty nodded.
"Yeah it's a good idea. Gym leaders don't usually fight with their full potential. But the more stronger you get the more stronger team they release against you." Alain stated.
"I also wish to do the same." Ash added.
"But gotta say Lily is quite strong seeing as her oddish already evolved into gloom" Misty said. After Lily apologized to me she did the same with Misty and they have been talking via calls since then.
-Brock pov-
"Geodude use rollout to get closer and then use fire punch" Brock said. It worked. It hit it's mark.
"Gloom use toxic" Lily called out. My geodude was poisioned.
"Geodude use Focus punch."
"Gloom use drain punch." Both attacks hit. It was tense moment before gloom fainted. I won. I won. Suddenly I heard clapping sound. It came from my friends. Soon everyone joined in.
Miss Bretheren gave me the breeder medalion.
Today seriously was a good day.
