Synopsis
In a world shattered by the Rupture, where heaven split and let the horrors of divinity spill onto Earth, humanity clings to its last hope: a hero named Luther. Forged by genius and guilt, draped in prophecy and lies, he is worshipped as Eden’s savior the slayer of Akuma, the Shield of the Last Citadel, the deliverance they prayed for. But behind the golden stage lights and hymns, Luther is fracturing. Haunted by memories he was never meant to have, stalked by a woman who should be dead, and whispered to by a boy he cannot remember, Luther begins to see through the story written for him. As the gods who made him the cold Prophet Zero and the brilliant, unhinged Mr. P play their games of power and guilt, Luther stumbles closer to the truth: he was never made to save. He was made to end. And when he remembers who… the world will burn. LUTHER: The Hero Who Burned the World (Book One) is a dark, cinematic science-fantasy epic about identity, guilt, and the cost of playing god

Chapter 1 - Prologue

PROLOGUE: NOTES FROM A MADMAN

(Filed in Mr. P's private log. Probably not meant for you to read. Oh well.)

Let me make something clear right now.

I didn't want to make a god.

Really.

Contrary to what the Observer Council's minutes say, I didn't wake up one day, chug my seventh espresso, and think to myself: "You know what this world needs? Another golden boy with a tragic backstory accompanied by bad personality."

No.

I built him because someone had to.

Oh okay sorry I had to..

And apparently no one else in this city of self-righteous priests, war-drunk generals, and starry-eyed prophets knew how to pick up a soldering iron and get to work.

So here we are.

If you're reading this, congratulations. You've stumbled into the middle of the worst-kept secret in Eden:

Our shining, holy hero... the Shield of the Last Citadel, the Bane of the Black Flame, and the Hero of 100,000 Victories... they say, what a bloody lie.

Oh sure, he believes he's real. That's the trick of it, see? You give the weapon just enough soul to dream of being a man, and it does half your job for you.

But the truth?

He was never meant to save us.

He was built to save someone.

And that is... yeah

And maybe.. if you're the sentimental type you'll ask, "Who, Paku? Who did you make him to save?"

Well good question.

Better question: Do you really want to know?

Of course you do. That's why you opened the damn book.

Fine.

Here's your little peek behind the curtain:

Everything you're about to read... the Akuma (Demons), the screaming sky, the hero with his perfect smile and a so, so broken heart... it all started the day I tricked God.

Yes. God.

Big G.

Don't look at me like that.

The Church was trying to baptize my son. They said it would "anoint him to his destiny." What it really did was burn him alive from the inside out and rip a hole in Heaven.

Oops...

Half the world went up in light that day. Oceans boiled. Cities vanished. Akuma poured through the rupture and started rearranging the map in creative ways.

I mean... yeah.

But me? I survived.

And I started building.

It took years. Decades, depending on how you count. And somewhere along the way, I stopped being a their slave. Stopped being a husband. Stopped being… me.

I became Mr. P.

Nice touch right?

And then came Luther.

Beautiful, broken Luther... ahh damn.

Sometimes I watch him on the monitors while he sleeps. And sometimes.. just for a second.. I think: maybe this time he'll wake up and finally decide who he wants to be.

My weapon.

Their savior.

Or something worse.

Anyway.

Enough about me. I'm sure the Council will call me melodramatic for leaving this log where you can find it. But here's the thing about melodrama:

Sometimes the world really is ending and maybe they need a reality check. From time to time , you know.

And sometimes, the only thing standing between you and the end is the man I made.

Luther.

God help us all.

Or don't. Honestly, He hasn't returned my calls in years.

From yours truly: Paku Shinomiya (Mr. P), Architect of Eden slash , Mr chaotic, Reluctant Father of Weapons, Unapologetic Smartass who knows what his doing.
