Chapter 9 - Obito's Surprise

Obito, who was busy with his test, couldn't help but look up when he heard their conversation, then froze.

He recognized Shisui.

The Uchiha clan lived together in the designated clan area within Konoha, so everyone of the same generation knew each other to some extent.

After all, they were from the same clan; even if they hadn't met, they would have heard of each other. Geniuses like Shisui were often mentioned by elders as "someone else's child," making it hard not to know him.

Obito felt a bit puzzled why Shisui was here and seemed quite familiar with Muyue.

"Is Teacher Hanyu a distant relative of Shisui's?" Obito had an unreliable thought.

"Teacher, I'm done!"

While Obito was lost in thought, Might Guy beside him suddenly shouted with full vigor.

"That fast?" Obito was bewildered. He remembered he hadn't stopped for long, so how did Might Guy suddenly finish?

Obito leaned over curiously to look and saw that Might Guy had only completed the first three multiple-choice questions; everything else was blank.

Obito was speechless for a moment because the entire test only had ten questions: four multiple-choice and six open-ended.

Although he didn't know many of the answers himself, he would at least fill up the paper to make it look better.

Hearing Might Guy, Muyue walked over and checked his answers. He got two wrong, with only the first question correct.

"I'm sorry, Teacher, I..." Might Guy, looking at the only three questions he attempted with two wrong, didn't know what to say.

"It's fine, it's normal not to know. If you knew it, you wouldn't need me to teach you," Muyue said with a comforting smile.

"Don't be bothered by a low score. You can look at it from another perspective: you have a lot of room for improvement. After all, improving from five points to twenty-five is much easier than going from eighty to a hundred."

Hearing Muyue's words, Might Guy's body stiffened. Having always been considered a dead last and left to his own devices, this was the first encouragement he received besides from his father.

"Teacher, you're right! I have a lot of room for improvement!" Might Guy's spirits instantly soared.

Next, Might Guy listened very attentively to Muyue's explanation, trying hard to understand even if it was difficult.

Next was Obito. Obito filled out six questions, but only got two right.

Muyue treated him the same way he treated Might Guy, first comforting him, then explaining the problems.

After explaining, Muyue took out two more similar test papers and handed them to the two.

"More to do?" Obito couldn't take his eyes off Shisui, who had started practicing Fire Style.

"Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!" Shisui quickly formed hand signs, instantly spitting out a two-meter-tall giant fireball that flew towards the river.

Looking at the massive fireball, Obito was utterly convinced, thinking, As expected of the clan's famous genius.

As an Uchiha, he also knew the classic Great Fireball Jutsu.

However, compared to Shisui's, his own Great Fireball was nothing more than a small fire pellet, whether in size or power.

"Is he another genius like Kakashi?"

Might Guy, who was beside him, didn't recognize Shisui, but looking at his build and face, he was at most six or seven years old. To be able to use a jutsu with such power truly surprised him.

This reminded Might Guy of Kakashi, whom he had recognized as his rival.

The Ninja Academy operated on a three-term system: the first term was from April to July, followed by summer vacation; the second term was from September to December, followed by winter vacation. The third term began after the winter break.

Kakashi hadn't even finished the second term when he applied for early graduation and passed, which showed his genius.

And now, Shisui gave Might Guy the same feeling as Kakashi at that age.

Immediately after, Shisui began practicing Fire Style: Great Dragon Fire Jutsu.

Watching Shisui use another Fire Style jutsu, Might Guy was even more surprised, because he had practiced the Three Basic Jutsu taught at school for three years and felt he had barely learned them.

Watching Shisui control the fire dragon flying in the sky, Obito was also very envious. If he could do that, Rin would surely be impressed.

"It's clear your shape transformation has greatly improved since the first time. The fire dragon is faster. You must have practiced a lot after returning yesterday," Muyue commented with praise.

"It's mainly because your cultivation manual, Teacher Muyue, helped me a lot," Shisui said with a smile upon hearing Muyue's praise.

"Let me demonstrate it for you again."

Muyue walked in front of Shisui, clapped his hands, and his chakra quickly gathered and compressed. Instantly, he opened his mouth and spewed out three enormous fire dragons.

Looking at the three ferocious, intensely burning giant fire dragons, Obito was dumbfounded.

A second ago, he thought Shisui's Great Dragon Fire was cool, but after Muyue's Great Dragon Fire appeared, Obito's opinion changed.

They didn't seem to be performing the same jutsu. The fire dragons released by Shisui and Muyue were like the difference between a snake and a loach. And why was Muyue's so fast? It felt like he didn't even use hand signs.

The three massive fire dragons quickly flew across the sky, leaving trails of flame in their path, eventually forming large characters in the air.

"Stop looking and do your test." Obito read the words in the sky, then noticed Muyue looking at him with a 'harmonious' smile.

Obito was instantly startled, then explained, "I just got tired and looked at the sky for a bit."

He glanced at Might Guy out of the corner of his eye and saw that Might Guy, who had been watching with him, had instantly picked up his pen and started working on the test, reacting very quickly.

"Have you looked enough now?" Muyue asked.

"Enough, enough," Obito also quickly picked up his pen and started working.

After doing the test for a while, Obito still couldn't resist stopping his pen and asking, "Teacher Hanyu, what's your relationship with Shisui?"

"Teacher and disciple. What did you think?" Muyue glanced at Might Guy's paper then replied.

"Hehe, I also thought it looked like teacher and student," Obito didn't voice his initial unreliable guess.

"Teacher Hanyu, if I pass, can you teach me the jutsu you just used?" Obito continued to ask.

His mind was already picturing how he would show off his new jutsu to Rin Nohara; in other words, he was ready to celebrate.

"Of course," Muyue nodded.

"Really?" Obito looked surprised and delighted.

"Really."

"Teacher Hanyu, what kind of taijutsu have you mastered?" Might Guy looked at Muyue with anticipation.

Although he also thought Muyue was cool when he used the Great Dragon Fire Jutsu, Might Guy's goal was clear: he only trained in taijutsu!

Muyue didn't speak. Instead, he walked up to a large tree, condensed chakra in his feet, tensed his muscles, and then kicked out a whirlwind kick at an extremely fast speed.

CRACK! The large tree quickly fell to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

"Do you like this taijutsu?" Muyue retracted his foot, brushed off the dust, and smiled as he looked at Might Guy.
