Chapter 3 Young Master, You Absolutely Must Not

At this moment, Lin Haoran understood clearly that the loyalty progress bar would only appear once someone officially became his subordinate.

For example, he could already see the loyalty bars of the employees in the cement factory.

However, after two or three days of observation, Lin Haoran had yet to find any employee with loyalty above fifty.

Still, most workers had higher loyalty levels than Lin Yi and the others. These employees depended on Huafeng Cement Factory to support their families, naturally fostering a certain loyalty to the factory.

And since Lin Haoran was the owner of Huafeng Cement Factory, their loyalty to the factory was essentially loyalty to him.

Lin Haoran had observed dozens of employees, but not a single one had loyalty higher than 50. This alone highlighted how rare it was to find someone like Li Weiguo and Li Weidong, whose loyalty exceeded 80.

"I wonder, if someone's loyalty reaches 100, what kind of subordinate they would become?" Lin Haoran mused with curiosity.

Perhaps only when loyalty reached 100 would someone truly be wholeheartedly loyal to him.

"Li Weiguo, Li Weidong, starting today, you two will serve as my bodyguards. For now, I'll pay each of you 3000 Hong Kong dollars per month. If you perform well, your salaries will have no cap!" Lin Haoran said straightforwardly.

In this era, a monthly salary of 3000 HKD in Hong Kong wasn't considered low—it was quite decent.

Currently, the average monthly wage in Hong Kong was around 2000 HKD.

In fact, ordinary factory workers earned about 1200 to 1500 HKD a month. Workers at Huafeng Cement Factory, for example, made just over a thousand dollars per month.

Even Lin Yi, Lin Er, and the others who were trained by the Lin family from a young age as "trusted aides" earned only a few thousand HKD per month.

Lin Haoran didn't know much about Li Weiguo and Li Weidong yet—he was only relying on the information they had casually revealed during their earlier conversation. Offering them 3000 HKD monthly was already very generous.

Of course, the most important factor was their loyalty levels surpassing 80, which was what Lin Haoran valued the most.

That level of loyalty should be enough for Lin Haoran to trust them.

When they heard Lin Haoran's offer, Li Weiguo and Li Weidong exchanged glances, excitement sparkling in their eyes, momentarily overwhelmed with emotion.

They didn't fully understand Hong Kong's cost of living; all they knew was that back in their hometown, even the best-paid workers only earned a few dozen RMB a month.

To them, 3000 HKD per month was almost unimaginable.

"Boss, really? Each of us gets 3000 HKD a month?" Li Weiguo asked, gradually calming his excitement but still uncertain.

"Of course. I don't deceive my people. From now on, you can call me Young Master," Lin Haoran replied with a smile, fully considering the two brothers part of his inner circle now.

"Thank you, Young Master! We will dedicate ourselves wholeheartedly to protecting you with our lives!" the Li brothers promised in unison.

"Young Master, you absolutely must not act so rashly! We haven't thoroughly investigated these two men yet. How can we hastily appoint them as your bodyguards? Please reconsider!"

At that moment, Lin Si, whom Lin Haoran had previously driven out, suddenly barged back in, trying to stop Lin Haoran's decision.

"Lin Si, how dare you! I told you to leave, yet you dared to eavesdrop on my conversation? Who gave you the courage to act so insolently?"

Lin Haoran was furious.

If he couldn't trust those whose loyalty exceeded 80, should he instead trust a rat like Lin Si, whose loyalty was a mere 11?

Reflecting on the past two months, and carefully combing through Lin Si and the others' behavior over the last two days, Lin Haoran realized that even without the golden finger, he could now detect the suspicious conduct of these men.

It was just that, for the time being, there was no better alternative to replace them, so Lin Haoran had tolerated their presence.

But tolerance didn't mean he lacked a temper.

Hearing Lin Haoran's furious outburst, Lin Si panicked and immediately knelt down, pleading, "Young Master, I was only thinking of your safety. The Old Master instructed us to protect you."

"My decisions are mine to make, Lin Si. Remember, I am the boss. You have no right to interfere!" Lin Haoran said coldly, his gaze sharp and commanding.

If Lin Si were truly loyal to him, Lin Haoran would have treated him differently.

But toward someone disloyal, Lin Haoran had no reason to show mercy.

"Young Master, I... I..." Lin Si stuttered, unable to find the words.

To be fair, Lin Si genuinely did want to ensure Lin Haoran's safety. Although he was undoubtedly a spy placed by Lin Haoning, he was also tasked with protecting Lin Haoran's life.

If anything happened to Lin Haoran, Lin Haoning's succession to Wanan Group would mean nothing, and Lin Si and the others would still face severe punishment from Lin Wanan.

However, Lin Haoran now clearly understood Lin Si's true allegiance, so he had no intention of showing him any courtesy.

He was no longer the clueless, newly graduated Lin Haoran of before.

Having now gained two highly loyal subordinates, Lin Haoran felt in much better spirits and no longer even looked at Lin Si.

Seeing that the Young Master was truly furious, Lin Si dared not linger and left miserably, his heart full of confusion.

He simply couldn't understand why Lin Haoran's personality had changed so drastically these last two days—especially today, when his temper seemed especially fierce.

"Li Weiguo, Li Weidong, you probably haven't had a chance to see much of the surroundings yet. Since you seem well recovered, how about I take you out for a walk? You're now in Yuen Long, directly opposite Shekou in Pengcheng. This is already Hong Kong territory," Lin Haoran said, standing up.

"That sounds great, thank you, Young Master! After resting these past two days, we've pretty much recovered," Li Weidong replied eagerly, his eyes lighting up. He had long been itching to get out of the small dorm room.

"Young Master, Yuen Long is a border area. What if the border officers discover us? Would we be deported?" Li Weiguo asked cautiously.

His concerns were not unfounded.

Before coming to Hong Kong, Li Weiguo had gathered information about the local border security.

He knew that once an illegal immigrant reached the urban area and registered with the immigration office, they could legally stay in Hong Kong.

But before reaching the urban area, they were still considered illegal immigrants.

If caught, all their risk and efforts would be wasted, and they'd be deported.

"That's right, Young Master. We don't want to be sent back. We've heard the city center in Hong Kong is amazing, but we haven't seen it yet!" Li Weidong said, eyes full of longing.

"Don't worry. With me here, no one will dare check you. Besides, once you're fully recovered, I'll take you to the city and help you get Hong Kong IDs. Then you'll have formal identities here," Lin Haoran said reassuringly with a smile.

Yuen Long was a backwater place. Lin Haoran had no intention of staying here long. There was no future here.

Only by returning to the city center could he find real opportunities to rise and thrive.
