On the day of the talent test, the teachers of the Royal Academy rang the bell in the east of the city. The ancient and solemn bell sound quickly reachedeveryone's ears, and Ryan heard it too.
It costs three copper coins to take the talent test, which must be completed within one day. He worked hard to finish the day's tasks, and because he worked diligently today, he was not scolded by his father.
He eagerly told his father, "I want to take the talent test."
But his father sternly refused and said, "No, you don't need to enter the academy. You can stay here for your whole life."
Ryan was very angry,"you have no right to restrict my freedom."
His father asked him,"Isn't it good to live a peaceful life here?"
Ryan still refused,,"I have my own life."
His father angrily locked him in the small attic room and even locked the door.
He couldn't get out, angrily banging on the door and shouting, "You have no right to do this."
Father said, "Wait until you grow up to ask me again."
Ryan was very angry, watching the sun slowlyset.
He knew that once the sun completely set, he would lose this chance, and he would never be able to change his fate again.
He moved a chair, trembling as he climbed up the small attic window. From here, he could see a little bit of daylight coming through from outside.
Then he fiercely smashed the small window with his elbow and jumped down from the attic.
As he fell, his hand pressed against the sharp gravel on the ground, blood dripping down, but he paid no attention to it.
He looked at the three copper coins hidden in his clothes. He had waited a long time for this day; he had to go.
Ryan gritted his teeth and ran forward fiercely, already tasting a hint of blood in his throat, but he still persisted and finally reached the testing platform of the Royal Academy.
He panted and said,"Sir, I am here to test my talent."
The one packing up was an old man with a green beard, who ignored him.
The sun had already set, and he was shrouded in darkness.
Ryan loudly repeated again, and the old man with the green beard finally turned around impatiently to look at him, telling him""It's already over, you're late."
Ryan explained, "When I arrived here, the sun hadn't completely set yet, it's because you were slow to answer me."
The old man with the green beard said to him,"Get lost."
No,he cannot give up this opportunity.
Ryan rushed over and pressed down on the green old man's iron box, saying to him, "That's not allowed, it's against the rules."
The blood on Ryan's hand flowed down the iron box, and surprisingly, the iron box was being slowly corroded by his blood, even melting.
The red-haired man said"Let this little guy give it a try." He had been silent until now, only speaking when he saw this miraculous scene.
The green-bearded old man impatiently took out a crystal ball,"Boy, put your hand on it, then close your eyes. What do you see?"
This crystal ball is very beautiful, crystal clear.
Ryan happily placed his hand on the crystal ball, and at that moment,he felt the whole world suddenly quiet down, his senses were heightened, and he could even hear birds chirping two miles away.
He formed a strong connection with this crystal ball.
He saw a colorful world, like a microcosm of the entire country.
Orcs, Dragon Knights, Assassins, Warriors...
Gradually, these things coalesced in to a black shadow, as if flapping its wings.
But Ryan could not make out what it was. When he tried hard to see clearly, the crystal ball was suddenly taken away, and everything before his eyes disappeared immediately.
He opened his eyes and said"I saw a black shadow, but I couldn't make out what it was."
The green-bearded old man said coldly, "You have no talent, go back."
The red-haired man explained to him, "In the Kingdom of Skatila, everyone is a descendant of the gods. Talent refers to the bloodline you inherit. For example, if you are a warrior, you will see the weapon that suits you best; if you are an orc, you will see an animal... This is determined by the bloodline you inherited. But for you, the shadow you described has no specific form, which means your talent is very weak."
Ryan felt a bit down, "So I really can only be a blacksmith? I don't believe I am a waste."
The red-haired man whispered to the green-bearded old man, "I think this kid is quite special. That box of yours is made of pure iron, yet his blood can corrode it. That's really impressive. Why not keep him?"
The green-bearded old man said angrily, "This box took me a long time to make, he should compensate me."
Don't argue with the child over these things.
The green-bearded old man took a deep breath, calmed his anger, and said, "Alright, but don't let him be assigned to my academy."
The red-haired man happily took out a blue letter and said to Ryan, "In three days, take this letter to the academy to register. Based on the shadow you described, it might be an animal. Perhaps you have inherited rare orc bloodline. You can go to the Orc Academy."
Ryan was very happy, as this meant he had a chance to change his destiny.
When he returned home with the letter, his father was repairing the attic window that he had broken. He apologized to his father and said, "I'm sorry, but I still want to go to school."
His father said: "The moment you broke the attic window, you made up your own mind. I won't interfere, but don't come back anymore, and don't say you are my son."
Ryan was a bit sad, but three days later he said goodbye to his father and headed to Jin long Royal Academy.
