Chapter 32 :Do you have an invitation?
Chasel Mills's gaze instantly turned icy. At that moment, he regretted not having someone by his side. These insignificant people truly didn't deserve his attention.
"Get out of the way, or die!" Chasel's voice was cold, laced with a hint of murderous intent.
After five years of battles, even the slightest hint of danger from Chasel made Austin Lewis shudder, as if he were being targeted by a colossal beast.
If he didn't move, he would die!
A thought flashed through Austin's mind, and instinctively, he stepped aside.Only then did Chasel Mills retract his gaze and enter the elevator.
Once Chasel's figure disappeared from their sight, Austin finally realized that he had been intimidated into submission by just a look and a few words.
Sure enough, after Chasel vanished, Cecilia Clarke, who had been leaning on him for support, subtly slipped out of his embrace.
Austin Lewis's family assets were only in the tens of millions, which didn't place him among the elite in her circle of wealthy second-generation individuals.
"Useless!"
Cecilia Clarke cursed inwardly as she crossed Austin Lewis off her list for good. Although she was furious, Austin was still part of the second-generation elite in Verdant City, so she didn't show any outward signs of her displeasure. However, she kept a slight distance from him, making sure he couldn't take advantage of her.
Austin could easily sense the shift in Cecilia's attitude. A shadow of gloom passed over his face.
...
The signing ceremony wasn't the traditional press conference; instead, it resembled a cocktail party.
After arriving on the eighth floor, Chasel Millsfound the Queen's Hall. Inside, the place was already bustling with people. Most of them were young, and the majority belonged to the upper crust of Verdant City society. They mingled in small groups, chatting and laughing.
"Sir, please sign in here," a staff member greeted Chasel as he arrived at the entrance.
Chasel Mills nodded and walked over to sign his name. Just as he finished signing and was about to enter the Queen's Hall, a voice called out from behind him.
"Hold on, do you have an invitation?"
It was a woman's voice. Chasel turned around, narrowing his eyes as he looked at Cecilia Clarke, who had followed him.
Seeing the look in Chasel's eyes made Cecilia's heart skip a beat. But she quickly composed herself. Today was the press conference for Charlotte Walker's appointment as the image ambassador for Qing Shui Mountain City. This was a serious matter, so even though she was seething with anger, she had to hold it in for now.She planned to wait until the press conference was over, then review the hotel security footage to find a way to track down Chasel Mills in Verdant City. At that point, she would deal with him.
However, she hadn't expected to run into Chasel again so soon. He was really attending this press conference.
Cecilia wasn't about to let this opportunity slip by. There were plenty of security guards around to maintain order, and if Chasel dared to make a move, he would definitely regret it.
Upon hearing this, the staff member in charge of check-in looked a bit awkward. Although this press conference was invitation-only, it was primarily aimed at prominent figures, and invitations were sent out as a sign of respect. However, there weren't strict requirements in place. As long as someone was dressed appropriately, they could enter. After all, the more lively the event, the wider the reach, which was a good thing.
But if they wanted to get technical, there were indeed reasons to deny entry to those without an invitation.
Austin Lewis's face lit up with excitement. Here was his chance. Just moments ago, he had been intimidated by Chasel Mills, which caused him to lose face in front of Cecilia Clarke. Now, he couldn't let this opportunity slip away.
Without hesitation, Austin stepped forward and approached Chasel Mills."Who do you think you are, showing up without an invitation and expecting to get in? You should take a good look in the mirror and see what you're really like!" Austin sneered.
As a member of Verdant City's elite, even if he was only considered second-tier, the circle of wealthy second-generation individuals was quite fixed. He knew just about everyone with a bit of status. Chasel Mills, however, was definitely not part of their circle.
"If your parents never taught you what manners are, I can certainly help them with that."
Chasel Mills spoke calmly.
Then, in front of the astonished crowd, he reached out.
Suddenly, with a sharp "smack," a loud and clear sound echoed through the room.
Austin Lewis immediately had a distinct red handprint on his face.
"You... you dare hit me?" Austin stammered.
He quickly regained his composure and shouted, "Security! Where are the guards?"
His shout drew the attention of several people near the entrance.
At the door, a few security guards who were responsible for maintaining order rushed over.
They recognized Austin Lewis, the son of one Of verdant City's restaurant tycoons.
"Mr. Lewis, what's going on?" the guards asked, their voices dripping with flattery.
"This guy doesn't have an invitation! Not only does he want to crash the press conference, but he also dared to hit me! Get him out of here!" Austin's face twisted with rage.
For these privileged youngsters, everything revolved around money and power. Even if they had grudges, they usually played dirty rather than confronting each other directly. Today, Chasel Mills' slap would surely turn Austin into a laughingstock in the second-generation circle of Verdant City.
After that, Austin leaned in closer to the guards and whispered, "Make sure to rough him up a bit, then hand him over to the police. I'll reward you handsomely afterward!"
A few security guards, hearing this, immediately broke into smiles. They quickly surrounded Chasel Mills, preparing to drag him off to a secluded corner for a good beating.
Everyone around, noticing the commotion, looked at Chasel with a mix of glee and schadenfreude. If Chasel Mills were a privileged heir from Verdant City, it might be understandable. But he was just an ordinary guy daring to take on Austin Lewis?
That was a direct challenge to their upper-class circle. If he got hurt, he would deserve it!Just then, a voice filled with uncertainty rang out.
"Chasel Mills?"
Chasel turned to see a striking figure stepping out from the hall.
It was none other than Nora Mills!
And right beside her was Samir!
Samir watched the scene unfold with a smirk, reveling in the chaos.
How foolish could Chasel be? Did he really think he could provoke the privileged heirs of Verdant City just because he could throw a punch? It was utterly laughable.
Samir could already predict that today, Chasel Mills would surely make a fool of himself.
This was not Huxley's shady place.
This was a gathering of the elite!
If Chasel Mills dared to act violently like he did that day, Samir was almost certain that the freshly released Chasel would find himself behind bars again in no time.
And this time, he would likely never get the chance to come out again.
